Nicht nur die Handlung ist spannend und logisch aufgebaut, auch die sprachliche Schilderung ist packend und abwechslungsreich.

Dieses Hörbuch hat einfach spaß gemacht. Ein Epos mit höhen und tiefen, stärken und schwächen der Charaktere. Sehr gut gemacht.

I struggled through this book because I've heard the series gets better, but this is a total ripoff of Lord of the Rings. The entire time I was thinking, "Awww they made it through Moria" or "the fellowship is broken" etc. But I'm hoping the next book is better.

Terry Brooks hat mit der Shannara-Reihe ein Fantasyepos geschaffen, dass mit dem Schwert von Shannara einen sehr guten Einstieg bietet. Der Leser wird mit allen Informationen versorgt die er braucht und die Sicht der Figuren ist auch nicht immer nur auf eine Person festgelegt. Allerdings gibt Terry Brooks nicht sofort alles preis. Es lohnt sich, dieses Buch zu kaufen und zu lesen, selbst wenn man es ein zweites oder drittes Mal liest, fallen einem noch neue Sachen auf, die man vorher nicht bemerkt hat.

The story had many points where I felt that a supposedly wise leader acted very foolishly and not in character.
The reader created a constant emotionally charged atmosphere which made it somewhat boring, yet irritating to listen to- it was always the same, even when they were just walking down a path.
There were also frequent and noticeable errors in the words he emphasized, sometimes giving the sentence a whole different meaning than what I felt the author wanted to say.

it is quite hard to follow the story. The characters and happenings are quite unspecific so that I tended to drift of all the time. Even when focused on the book I found it hard to say what happened the past five minutes at any given point.

Sword of S. ist ein Herr der Ringe RipOff. Das ist aber bekannt und soll jetzt nicht Thema sein.
Ich komme direkt von Wheel of Time. Der Erzählstil bei Sharanna ist schlecht, im direkten Vergleich sogar eine mega Enttäuschung. Beispiel: Der Erzähler erzählt uns, dass der Charakter sich verändert hat. Er zeigt es nicht durch die Handlung. Der Erzähler erzählt uns dass der General eine unglaublich schlaue Taktische Entscheidung getroffen hat. Wir erleben es nicht. Wir bekommen es einfach vorgesetzt. Das schlimmste ist, dass Charaktere genauso vorgestellt und erhalten werden. Es gibt keine erlebte Charakterentwicklung, es gibt "Charakter-Entwicklungen" die behauptet werden. Das ist Schul-Erzähl-Niveau.
Erzähler: OK. Nicht zu vergleichen mit Michael Kramer oder Stephen Frey.
Zusammenfassung: Keine Empfehlung. Holt euch wheel of time. hab ich zweimal gehört.
