Über diesen Titel

The bestselling fitness and self-improvement book for breaking through mental resistance and barriers, building unshakeable discipline, and keeping your goals alive when things get tough.

Fitness isn’t everything. But everything is harder if you aren’t fit.

Because the muscle and strength that you gain from working out is less important than the person you become by working out:

You become a person who understands that growing into the best version of themselves necessarily includes getting into great shape.

You become a person who never underestimates the power of simply believing in themselves and always looks for reasons to bet on their hand.

You become a person who realizes they can achieve far more than they thought they were capable of.

And that’s why I wrote this positive lifestyle habits book:

To help you become that person by sharing insights from scientific research, compelling stories, and practical strategies for staying motivated when setbacks, failure, and self-doubt makes you want to give up.

Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find inside this motivation book:

The "What, When, Where, If, Then" formula that will rewire your thinking for more consistency inside and outside of the gym.

● Three simple questions that will reveal your true "why" for fitness and unlock a wellspring of motivation that will keep you going even when it's hard.

How to stop sabotaging your progress with complaining and negativity and develop a solution-oriented mindset that empowers you to take action.

Warren Buffett's "2 List Strategy" for prioritizing your goals, eliminating distractions, and achieving laser focus and maximum productivity.

● How to use “productive pessimism” to avoid what scientists call the positivity paradox and cultivate a balanced mindset that will turn self-doubt into self-belief.

● And more

The bottom line is getting fit is like doing anything that most people fail at.

It's harder than you think it'll be. It'll take longer than you think it'll take. You'll make way more mistakes than you want to make.

But there’s also this:

You can't fail unless you give up.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed in your fitness; struggling with laziness, procrastination, or self-doubt; or trying to reignite your passion for working out …

… and if you want strategies for developing a resilient mindset that will empower you to stick with your fitness for the long haul …

… then you want to read this self discipline book for women and men today.

Contra: first 30 min and last 15 min seem to be advertisement and there is more in the text. No great original thoughts. Dangerous by pushing to sleep less. Should integrate "Why we sleep" and Dr. Marc Bubbs' "Peak" which starts with sleep as the foundation of fitness. A little too much of "You can do it, just do it!" and too little encouragement to be prudent in starting slowly. "Essentialism" is better at that: "Which problem do you want?" Success needs prudence... or you better have good health insurance...
Pro: good summaries of other good or great books, solid story telling and practical advice. The bibliography is valueable.
Content:
1. Make exercise/strive part of your identity
2. Declare the sacrifices you are willing to make. Practise
3. Action creates attitude.
Many of the obstacles we face in life are of our own creation.
4. Choose goals carefully and with role models (Warren Buffett System: 25 possible goals, select only 5, what sacrifices are you willing to do for those? How will the achievement feel? Regard the other 20 goals as distractions)
5. Find systems to enlarge the probability of success: what do you need to change?
6. Do it! Put in the work! Do not complain. 7. Use cautious optimism: Realism, not optimism. Optimism only if cost of failure is low.
8. Be thankful and do favors. Be a giver.

Speaker is good. Uses the same melody in his sentences a lot, but good reader for an author. Good voice.

Total sum: A solid, motivating self-formation book, that goes well beyond sports. I will use it. Thanks Michael!

Good: Practical summaries of various books

I highly appreciated the content. Unlike the title suggests, the book's focus is not only on workout routine but about a healthy and positive approach towards life in general. The lesson about self talk is probably the most impactful!

Amazing book, especially during Lockdown!

I love the book because it's applicable methods. Decide what you want, get out and do the work. It's generally a guide for all your goals not only bodybuilding. I recommend his blog too but most importantly do the work.

Outstanding Goalsetting methods

I decided to read this book after I realized that I started to delay and postpone my workouts too often. This is exactly the kind of book, I wished I had read in my youth when I started to work out.

What makes the book compelling is that it offers quite a lot of substantial advice on how to address motivation. It starts with why and your core motivation. I learned that not just in my professional career I need a vision, but also in my body development.

Ok, some people might say. Self-Motivation? Is it not all the same thing with just nuances? Is it still worth to read that book if you at the same time might have read books from NLP Gurus or Tony Robbins? The point is: it addresses everything from a workout perspective and in the end how you approach your workout uncovers a lot of who you are.

My core lessons learned
* Have a vision on how you want to look like and feel
* Many people like me have challenges to work out regularly, however, it is possible to address them
* It really depends on how you talk to yourself
* See workout as training of character

Best book on workout motivation
