a story of older heroes in the desert
this is a story that talks about twonolder trans people and an adventure in the desert. it does get dark, but there is always hope

Wholly magical and profoundly human
The story is nuanced, woven like the magic it tells of. I really liked the magic system and world-building, as well as the characters we get to follow on their journeys. Especially the two main characters are absolutely beautifully written, their similarities and differences making it easier to understand them in their complexities.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves themselves some fantastic world building and journeys of self-discovery - especially since in this case we don't get the typical youngsters but older people with the hopes, regrets, scars and experiences having formed them throughout long lives. In tone with all the rest of the book, we get to see how change doesn't care for age, how it affects that which has changed a lot already.
The narrator has a great "campfire voice", it's been a pleasure to listen - I'll do so again.
