Das Buch ist sicher ganz gut geschrieben, aber lustig fand ich es nicht. Nicht mal ansatzweise. Wenn man in der Stimmung ist für die Tragik des Erwachsenwerdens im Schulalltag eines irischen Internats und den irischen Akzent des Sprechers mag, dann ist es bestimmt hörenswert.
Aber beides trifft auf mich nicht zu. Und dann sind 21 Stunden echt lang.

Dieser Roman ist der wahrscheinlich beste, den ich seit langer, langer Zeit gelesen/gehört habe.

Der Sprecher verleiht diesem ohnehin schon atemberaubend guten Buch eine Tiefe und Realität, die einfach nur mitreißt.

Absolute Empfehlung, Schmunzeln, schallendes Lachen, Kloß im Hals, die ein oder andere Träne, nachdenkliche Stille, Fremdschämen... das ganze Gefühlspektrum wird bedient. Einfach herrlich.

Grandios

Eine mitreißende Geschichte, die von mehreren Protagonisten gleichzeitig erzählt. Die Erzählstränge überschneiden sich im Alltag der Personen. Ich finde es ist eine sehr realistische Darstellung über die Widrichkeiten des Erwachsen werdens und Erwachsen seins!! Auch der Erzählstil in Umgangsslang ist sehr unterhaltsam.

Wonderful, dramatic, humorous telling by one actor who read/played all the very different characters. Hope to hear or see more of the actor, Patrick Moy. Can’t wait to read more books by Paul Murray.

Heartbreaking and heartwarming, funny story

This book is one of the best books of our time that I have experienced. It is very powerful, outspoken and truthful. It's story is very sad and at the same time in many parts poetic though never sentimental. The main figures (schoolchildren in their puberty and schoolteachers) with whom I deeply sympathized, are not heroic or without fault. There is no black and white. For me it is literally a masterwork, description, atmosphere, timing – perfect.
Patrick Moy reads it to perfection. How does he do it? He is totally involved. His voice very attractive.

This book is fasinating, exiting, moving and deep.
It lets you relive your teenage years and feel with the characters as much as you'd do with your closest friends.
It is a wonderful story about life, death, friendship and the universe.
I absolutely loved the book and couldn't stop listening to it. The speaker has a lovely irish accent and it is very well spoken.

A Masterpiece - not only for teenagers!
