THE STORY

On the prison world of Zartak, darkness has fallen on arbitrators and inmates alike. The Night Lords have come, bringing with them the shadow of fear and pain. But these monsters are not the only ones with an interest in Zartak. From the void, running on silent, another fleet emerges.

These Space Marine warriors are grey-clad and white-faced, and their eyes are as black as the Outer Dark – the savage Carcharodon Astra. As two packs of ancient, merciless predators stalk the shadows of the prison colony, both seeking a single young inmate with unnatural talents, the corridors run red, and both factions will have to fight tooth and claw to leave Zartak alive.

The story is not as exciting as you would anticipate from a confrontation of these two chapters. The narrator pauses in strange intervals and overall couldn't convince me.

I loved the cold dark setting of this novel without any fancy bs and how sinister and creepy the Night Lords were portrayed!

Hey there reader. I have come for the review. I liked the book overall. Yes the story could be better. I have listened to a lot of WH40/30k books by now and I can safely say this one is cool. Yes, the VIII legion is my favorite, the Carcharodons are also very awesome in my opinion. Not as much as the VIII but close. So here we have both. If you are a fan of any of the two you will like it. If you are just a corpse worshiper looking for heroes in blue/yellow armor, nope, not for you. Anyway, death to the false emperor and Ave Dominus Nox to you all.

great characters

Narrator did a good job of bringing the various characters to life.
Storywise: interesting to see Night Lords and a loyalist SM chapter pursue their respective targets. Is there methodical overlap? Kind of. The differences. Well they‘re the defining element, kind of.
