I rate this book high up together with two similar favorites of mine: Creativity Inc and The Power of habit. Grant's research combines psychology with sociology and organisational management. He uses these insights to provide a series of interesting lessons on originality and creativity, the underlying message being that we can all be originals once we understand and adopt these principles. It's one of those books that I'll have to listen to a couple of times until I understand all the information. In this sense, it's a bit dense. Also, I feel the story slows down after the first chapters. At times I found it difficult to releate some of the examples given with the concept of originality. Nevertheless, highly interesting and inspiring.

Very interesting book about how to foster originality. I found it to be very thorough, the stories were quite engaging, and I particularly enjoyed the twenty minutes recap at the end.

I always love Adam’s insights on human potentials and interpersonal dynamics. With many stories and researches he brings us to understand more about ourselves and encourages us to be original and creative, free and successful.

A book full of eye-openings

It certainly demolished many of my convictions. Procrastination is not a bad thing. Imagining the worse case scenario before a very big test can actually help. Venting can do more harm than good. Probably the best book of 2016 and hopefully read/listened by as many as possible in 2017. Great narrator performance by Fred Sanders and Susan Denaker!

The narrator presents the book using storytelling, which makes it easier to grasp very interesting psychological behaviors.

I enjoyed the book and learned a lot

Ein informatives Buch, mit einigen interessanten Ansätzen. Es beschreibt verschiedene Interpretationen von Verhalten erfolgreicher Menschen und die möglichen Ursachen dafür. Dies geschieht an Beispielen historischer und aktueller Persönlichkeiten und wird dabei von zahlreichen Forschungsergebnissen unterlegt.

Dabei neigt der Autor jedoch gelegentlich dazu, sich in seinen Interpretationen zu verlieren und immer wieder neue Ergebnisse anzuführen, ohne den Gedanken zu Ende zu führen, oder einen bereits erklärten Sachverhalt nochmals zu erklären, was zu einigen Längen und Wiederholungen führt.

Der Sprecher ist bei wenigen Gelegenheit etwas undeutlich, dies ist aber eher selten.

PS: Ein Punkt, der mich irritiert hat, ist folgender: In einem Kapitel argumentiert der Autor, dass um andere Menschen für eine Sache oder ein Projekt zu gewinnen und Vertrauen aufzubauen, wäre es hilfreicher (und aufrichtiger) nicht nur die Vorteile zu betonen, sondern auch offen die Schwachstellen zu benennen. Wenn man jedoch ein Vorwort für sein eigenes Buch wählt, welches von Superlativen über den Autor nur so strotzt, finde ich das seltsam.
