Über diesen Titel

From the USA Today bestselling author of BOYFRIEND MATERIAL and HUSBAND MATERIAL comes a charming New Adult LGBTQIA+ romance perfect for fans of Heartstopper.
Drew’s always prided himself on being the “right” kind of nerd. He plays sports, has a solid group of friends, and never had any problem talking to girls. Sure, he spends time playing Heroes of Legend, the biggest MMORPG on the planet, but it’s just a fun hobby, not his identity. Falling for someone in a video game? Not his style.
Until it is.
Enter Kit: witty, kind, razor-sharp, and a healer who’s saved Drew’s virtual skin more times than he can count. She’s also, turns out, a boy in real life. The realization knocks Drew off-balance, but it doesn’t take long for him to figure out the simple truth—he likes Kit, no matter Kit’s gender.
The real challenge? Kit’s reality is leagues apart from Drew’s. Being online is his life, and while he’s willing to come out of his shell an inch at a time, there’s such a wide gulf between them that Drew’s left wondering: can love truly bridge the distance…or are they fated to remain in separate worlds forever?

I had such a great time listening to this performance. Using different narrators to portray the chat conversations was a great choice and it really brought the story to life.
The humor really got me and I always love when I can actually hear it in the narrators voices, like they really are smiling at the joke. It started with the reading of the glossary, which sounded so cheeky and fun, and went through the whole book.
If you're even slightly into gaming (board or pc) this book feels so like home and a bit nostalgic.

I had a wonderful, wonderful experience with this. Thank you so much.

Wonderful

Beautiful build of a story that starts with 17 minutes of a snarky glossary about gaming terms that were amusing but thankfully not necessary to enjoy a story about finding out what you want, being ok with it despite of what others might say and finding romantic and non-romantic people to share it with - or not sharing and setting healthy boundaries. Read by a delightful cast and accompanied by music that makes you feel appropriately transported to a magical online world. Thanks Alexis Hall for creating more Spires adjacent stories and the cast for bringing it to life.

Super cute story. Amazing performance. I did want to strangle Drew sometimes, but it was all good naturedly and never so bad or too long that I couldn’t handle it. And I mean when is there a book when you don’t want to strangle the MC at some point? Kit is a sweetheart and I love him so much. The background music really gave you this feeling to being there in the game with them and I enjoyed it. I’ve been holding my inner geek from also starting video games, but seriously, I want to play now. All in all, absolutely recommend. Another great book by Alexis Hall, as always

I think, this is a very cool way of covering gaming within a book and I think the adaption as an audio book was done very well, too.

I felt that the topics were covered in a compassionate way.

The queerphobia happening, for example, is not the "I hate you, cause you're a homosexual" kind of queerphobia, but the much subtler one, that gets overlooked more easily.
Although the book covers topics that can cause stress and do so for the characters, the story never feels very heavy, The content warning "queerphobia - challenged" was the first time I chuckled and I think it sums it up pretty neatly.

To avoid spoilers, I will keep it very vague, but I am happy that this book exists.
