Sam Becker loves—or, okay, likes—his job. Sure, managing a bed-and-bath retailer isn't exactly glamorous, but it's good work, and he gets on well with the band of misfits who keep the store running. Determined to set things right, Jonathan orders Sam down to London for a difficult talk…only for a panicking Sam to trip, bump his head, and maybe accidentally imply he doesn't remember anything?

Faking amnesia seemed like a good idea when Sam was afraid he was getting sacked, but now he has to deal with the reality of Jonathan's guilt—as well as the unsettling fact that his surly boss might have a softer side to him. There's an unexpected freedom in getting a second shot at a first impression…but as Sam and Jonathan grow closer, can Sam really bring himself to tell the truth, or will their future be built entirely on one impulsive lie?

I came for the romance but stayed for the humour. I don’t know the last time I laughed out loud that many times while listening to an audiobook. And I mean not a sharp exhale through the nose but a literal LOL! This book is so funny, witty, relatable (in-spite of the quite absurd amnesia storyline) and just all in all heartwarming. LOVED the narrator as well, he did an incredible job conveying the northern charm.
The romance sometimes felt a little rushed especially towards the end (classic Alexis hall) and I think the book might have benefitted from a two POV kind of narrative to get to know the thoughts and feelings of Jonathan a bit more but all in all I HIGHLY recommend. Can’t wait for the next one, Alexis hall!

Enjoyed this heartwarming novel a lot. It’s funny, sweet, has a good pace, and the narrator is doing really fantastic work.

Alexis Hall is a marvelous writer. Pairing up with Will Watt makes this audiobook the best Christmas story in the kissing books category ever. Usually FTB scenes frustrate me but here it’s perfectly executed. Will’s accents are amazing and one can really hear AJH’s words coming to life. Read and listened last year when it came out and I can’t believe I forgot to rate. Glad I’m doing it now so I can confirm that it gets better with every listen. Officially becoming a December listening must 💝

Best Christmasy audiobook ever

I really like Alexis Hall and the main characters are both quite unlikeable in the beginning, so you need to really be able to trust the author to be able to pull it all together. This is done beautifully. I also really liked the narration, but non-Brits should probably know it comes with a Northern accent, which works wonderfully for the story.

I had the best time listening to this book and couldn't turn it off. The narrator is amazing.
Very sweet and heartfelt story, amazing chemistry between the main characters and lovely side characters. The story just sweeps you off your feet and wraps you up in a warm bubble of happy feelings.
If you love Alexis Hall's books for their authentic vibe of emotionally struggling characters leading ordinary lives and falling head over heels for someone very unexpected, this story is for you.

loved everything about this. classic alexis hall with funny Banter, britische Humor and a subtly told romance Story. the Charakters were likeable and Story Arbeit foreseeable still very cute and lovely to listen to.

I listened to the audiobook 3 times already...and it was not because of the story. Normally I prefer the book to the audiobook, but this was really, really good. The story is alright I guess....and I loved Jonathans family :)
