Carter Morgan III hates everything about South Carolina University except for one thing: hockey.

As the starting netminder for the team, he lives for those moments when he can step onto the ice and between the pipes. Unfortunately, his time at school and on the team is slowly coming to an end. Although he'd love nothing more than to pursue a career in the NHL, he knows better than to get his hopes up.

Zeke Cassidy needs a place to live. When he answers an advertisement for a roommate, he's not sure what he is expecting except that it isn't Carter Morgan III. Carter is unfriendly and aloof, and they have nothing in common. Even so, the pair hit it off immediately and become friends.

Carter knows Zeke isn't interested in being anything beyond friends and roommates. Unfortunately, knowing this doesn't stop him from hoping for more, no matter how much he tries to convince himself it's impossible.

I really liked the relationship of the MCs. I enjoyed that there was no shame or unnecessary anxiety, but a whole lot of respect and open mindedness.

This was such a lovely and wholesome story that I found my self really enjoying. The narrators were great and I am interested in learning more about other characters. I absolutely loved how Carter, the grumpy one, was actually so soft and only wanted to be loved and so openly expressed his feelings, at first with his idols (his coach and his coach's husband) but then also with Zeke. The way they took their time was also appreciated and made the whole story more real and believable.

It’s a feel-good story and I reached the end rather quickly, though I was not a big fan of the narrator, especially for Zeke’s character. I guess that’s a personal preference.

The story is a somewhat predictable mm sports college romance with singst no Angst and a lot of sweet moments.
