Although I know what we’re doing is weird and probably toxic, I just can’t seem to let him go.

Theo is a broody, brilliant mind. A doctoral chemistry student who also tutors on the side. Logan, on the other hand, is a good-hearted, bright, and endlessly friendly water polo star who struggles academically and turns to Theo for help. While the premise sounded promising, I have to admit that the first 40% was difficult. Theo’s hostility toward Logan felt excessive — cynical, aggressive, and often hard to understand. The situations early on were extremely awkward and unusual, sometimes uncomfortable, though occasionally funny.
As the story unfolds, we finally learn why Theo is the way he is, and once his walls start coming down, it’s impossible not to feel deeply sorry for him. When both men begin to truly open up to each other, the story becomes far more engaging and emotionally satisfying. That’s when the connection finally clicks.
That said, the book keeps you guessing right up until the last chapter. The HEA felt anything but guaranteed, and I genuinely worried this might end on a cliffhanger — thankfully, it didn’t.
One thing that never fully worked for me was Finn’s character. Logan’s best friend is initially open and supportive, but once Theo enters the picture, Finn becomes distant and oddly unfriendly. That shift never quite made sense to me and remained unresolved.
The spice was frequent and well done — definitely one of the stronger elements of the book.
🎧 Narration:
Nick J. Russo is always a treat, and he brought Logan’s golden-retriever energy perfectly to life. Iggy Toma was just as solid, giving Theo the emotional depth and edge the character needed. Together, they elevated the listening experience.

Overall, Until Him had a rough start for me but ultimately delivered an emotionally rewarding MM romance with strong narration and satisfying spice.
