Über diesen Titel

Reed Ellis is absolutely gorgeous but a total newbie to camming, a virtual nobody in my world.

I should have just deleted his message request for a steamy on-camera collaboration. Not everyone is cut out to be a camboy. But there's just something about him I couldn't resist.

He's timid and inexperienced, quiet and closed off, but his fumbling first times play out scorching hot for the cameras, and our videos together are an instant success.

I know I should just ride this out, sit back and watch the money roll in, and then move on.

But I can't. I'm intrigued by this brick wall of a man. I see glimpses of Reed hiding behind his silence, and he is struggling. He has secrets, someone he cares about that he's protecting. I make it my mission to get him to open up and let me in. What will it take to reach the elusive Reed?

Reaching Reed is a very steamy and sweet M/M romance about camboys and first love. It is the first standalone book in the Behind the Camera series.

This was my first book by Cora Rose and Nicole Dykes, and I went into Reaching Reed with pretty mixed expectations. I’m usually not super into sex worker tropes, but since both the KU version and the audiobook were free—and I already like the narrators, so I decided to give it a try.

And yes… this book starts very spicy. Like, immediately. You also need to know that basically every chapter contains spice, so if that’s not your thing, this might feel like a lot.

At first, I honestly didn’t know what to think. The story felt heavily focused on the cam work, and since we only get Carter’s POV in the beginning, Reed remains this distant, almost silent presence—just grunts and one-word replies. But somehow… that made him even more intriguing.

Everything really shifted once we got Reed’s POV.

Reed is such a beautifully layered character—quiet, guarded, and clearly carrying so much beneath the surface. He’s protecting someone, hiding things, and struggling in ways that slowly unravel throughout the story. My heart honestly ached for him. I wanted to hug him through the pages more than once. The way his secrets are revealed—slowly, piece by piece—had me fully invested, and I definitely choked up a couple of times.

Carter, on the other hand, is the perfect counterpart. Patient, kind, and incredibly intuitive. What I loved most is how subtle his care is—he supports Reed without overwhelming or embarrassing him. Their dynamic felt so natural and believable, and watching their relationship grow off-camera was incredibly satisfying.

Despite being only 22 and 24, both characters felt mature beyond their years.

What surprised me most is how wholesome and emotionally deep this story actually is. Yes, it’s very spicy—but the spice never felt pointless. It was woven into their connection and emotional growth, which made it feel meaningful rather than excessive. The frequent spice was part of their dynamic and growing relationship and feelings, so it felt natural and only got stronger with each chapter.

The side characters were also such a highlight. Hannah (Reed’s little sister) was absolutely adorable, and Carter’s hippie, slightly overbearing moms were hilarious and lovable. Their friends added even more warmth to the story.

As for the audiobook: both narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life. However, there was a noticeable difference in production tone between them, which felt a bit off at first—but I got used to it over time.

Overall, this book really surprised me—in the best way. It’s proof that even very spicy reads can still deliver emotional depth and meaningful storytelling.

A sweet story about cam boys. It has as much spice as I expected from the premise but it’s also a very cute love story, with very likeable characters and the spicy stuff feels fitting for the story. It’s not overdone and not cheesy. The narrators are also doing an excellent job.

Much cuter than I expected
