This is a fun book, but it makes no scientific sense and is a bit racist at times.

Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” is one of those books that one must have read. And yet it’s an entertaining book. Tim Curry narrated it beautifully and has a voice one enjoys listening to (although he struggled with some Icelandic names sometimes, which was quite funny to be honest). All in all I very much recommend this audio book.

Phantasievolle Geschichte, liebenswürdig altmodisch. Für die Entstehungszeit sicherlich ein revolutionärer Science fiction! Tim Curry als Sprecher ist gut zu verstehen, Er kämpft sich durch die botanischen, zoologischen und mineralogischen Fachbegriffe, deutsche, französische, lateinische und isländische Namen etc. und er macht das gut. Zum Zuhören ist das manchmal etwas anstrengend, aber das gehört eben zu diesem Text, denn es geht ja um "Wissenschaft und Forschung" vor dem Hintergrund der Jahrhundertwende, und der Plot umspannt fast die ganze Welt.
Ich habe es mit Vergnügen einmal angehört, da ich nur die Verfilmung aus Kindertagen kannte, werde es aber wohl kein zweites Mal hören.
