    Inhaltsangabe

"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

    Wunderschön gelesen!

Wasn't sure which version i would download to hear but I am so glad to have downloaded this one! The story stays the same but the enthusiasm and energy and Clarity of the reader is fantastic. Really enjoyable! Each character has his own voice and mood, but not overdoing or over acting the said character,. I can only say it you want to hear one of the best classics read to you then this is really the one!! I sit in my studio working and listen while working, just lovely! Blown away. I'm only into chapter 10 and can't wait till the crew hits sea! Awesome.

    A book for the ages

This whale of a novel has intimidated its readers through the centuries. It's not hard to understand why. Melville has created a "book of everything". The whole history of mankind in one enormous work of art, a companion book to religious beliefs around the globe, a study guide to good and evil inside all of us, mindblowing in it's moral and political relevance to this very day. If you already put 'Moby Dick' down once or twice before (frustrated or bored or whatever) PLEASE find new ways to finally conquer this story! Read it in very small bits; maybe just a few pages a day... or let William Hootkins read it to you in one of the finest audiobooks I've ever encountered here on audible. Make Melville's masterpiece your spiritual journey and find a way in which the message and deeper meaning speaks to you. Discover something special!
