I loved this adaption of the book by narrator Dan Stevens. Mary Shelleys's book is a pinnacle of English literature.

Timeless Classic

Sehr einfühlsam geschrieben: Auch wenn ich mich nicht mit den Morden identifizieren kann, so kann ich dieses sehr junge Wesen doch auch verstehen: Ungeliebt, verstoßen, gequält versucht er einen Sinn / ein Ziel zu finden und wenn es nicht Liebe oder wenigstens Gesellschaft sein kann, so doch wenigstens Vergeltung an seinem Schöpfer.
Und genau wie bei einem Kind zeigt er hinterher - nachdem er verstanden hat, was er getan hat - sein schlechtes Gewissen und sein Herz. Nur um - nach erneuter Kränkung - wieder die Beherrschung zu verlieren und wieder zu morden, um am Ende eines seiner Ziele zu erreichen und auch darüber zu verzweifeln.
Aus dem Jahr 1818.
Hätten doch heutige Monster nur wenigstens ein halb so großes Herz wir Frankensteins Geschöpf.

yes definitely. Dan stevens is such a perfect narrator. I would recommend every audio book narrated by him

interesting book and great narrator

Yes it’s a classic and I enjoyed the story as a whole, although I feel like some negative descriptions are overdone (the words wretch/wretched were used at least 100 times). Loved the descriptions of nature though.
My main complaint was the narrator, though. He sounded like he was about to cry and I could barely stand that for eight hours. I had to pause regularly and take a break. Also, I felt my mind wander off because my ears just shut down.
If it weren’t a classic, I probably wouldn’t have finished it.

The only downside I can think of, is that it's a tough read for people not well accustomed to the English language. Plenty of the vocabulary used is quite dated. It's more a warning towards beginners in English rather than a real downside. Storywise it is very strong and emotional. Also, the reader did a great job.

I didn't expect Frankenstein to be in this genre. It was very well written and the performance was great but it was a bit too depressing for my taste and I was also a bit annoyed that in the story evitable events took place... it could have been way more positive if the events would have had a different order

First of all, this book is not for English-beginners. I'm not a native speaker and it was very hard for me to understand everything. Nevertheless the writing-style is absolutely beautiful and the descriptions are like poems, which I really liked.

The beginning is very slow in this book because the first chapters are like a summary of Victor's childhood etc.

The parts I liked most are the chapters that are written in the pov of the "monster" who tries so hard to be accepted and loved. For me that's the main point of the book. The "monster" wants to learn how to be a human but in the end humans are what destroyed him.

I think this book is very valuable and is totally worthy reading / listening to it. Dan Stevens does a really good job in narrating the audio-book.

I wish I would have understood more but that's my fault because 1818 English is a whole new level. However I really recommend this audio-book.

Ich bin vom Buch und der Sprecher sehr begeistert. Es ist sehr lyrisch geschrieben und der Sprecher ist ein Akteur der englische Literatur studiert hat und es sehr schön liest. Die originale Geschichte ist ganz anders als die populären Adaptationen (Filme). Das Monster (the fiend, wretch, demon) ist wohl das eloquenteste der Literatur, muss ich schon sagen.
