It’s a plastic football-sized egg that’s supposed to hatch an adorable, colorful stuffed bird when a child “feeds” it through a synchronized smartphone app. What’s actually inside is an otherworldly monstrosity that’s enticing impressionable wayward youth into murdering folks and depositing their body parts inside the egg as if it’s a hungry piggy bank to trigger the end of the world.
That’s where Dave, John, and Amy come in. They face supernatural threats so the rest of us don’t have to—and sometimes even earn a couple of bucks to so do. But between the bloody ritual sacrifices and soul-crushing nightmares, our trio realizes this apocalypse is way above their pay grade.

Trockener Humor und großartig abgebrüht
Das ist mein erstes Buch von dem Autoren. Obwohl ich mehrere seit Jahren auf der Wunschliste habe. Für unentschlossene, wer den Stil von Rick and Morty mag findet sich in diesem Genre gut zurecht. Ich bin jedenfalls froh, dass ich mich von einigen anderen Rezensionen habe überzeugen lassen.

The way in which the time travel time was presented.
If This Book Exists, You're in the Wrong Universe by Jason Pargin, the fourth book in the John Dies at the End series, is everything I hoped it would be - hilarious and weird. Time travel can be complicated and confusing, but it fits perfectly into this world, and surprisingly or actually not really surprisingly, it's not even the most perplexing aspect of the story. The joke about The "do not open" sticker had me in stitches for a good ten minutes; I couldn't stop giggling. And the new commandments at the end of the book are actually more helpful than some of the appointments I've had with my therapist. Thank's for the fun-filled ride!

This. Book. Is. It.
Clearly influenced by lovecraft, love for humanity's frailty is indeed very well crafted into this pinnacle of the series. Not only does it portray deep truths of human behavior in passing, it does so in a very smart and highly entertaining way. It's stuff like this that makes snuggling up into the veil a rather cozy and worthwhile experience instead of blasting through the void. Thank you David. (As a fan since the beginning of the series, I stick to it.)
