This audiobook was amazing. Impeccable reading and intriguing story. I love the two main characters and how their relationship develops in this first book. Very excited for the next book.

The book is really great, but who decided to give the strong FMC a childish, mouselike voice. It ruins the whole story. Couldn’t continue listening and am really annoyed to have spend credits on this audiobook. Note to my future self: listen to previews before spending…

Great book but horrible narration

Der Anfang war etwas langsam, die Story hat mich dann aber doch gecatched und habe mich durch das Audiobuch „gekämpft“. Die FMC-Sprecherin war anfangs (storybedingt) sehr anstrengend, das wurde besser im Verlauf. Schlimmer war dann aber der männliche Sprecher, dessen Stimme und Darbietung meiner Meinung so gar nicht zum Charakter gepasst hat… ugh. Naja, man kann es sich mal anhören.

I Really liked the Story

The main voice actress actually does a good job - except for when she’s voicing the main character. She makes her sound like a whiny, dumb 6 year old. Which is especially jarring considering she’s supposed to be a strong, powerful young woman. The male voice actor is just awful, he sounds like he’s dying of lung cancer just gasping after every other word. It’s so incredibly grating and distracting i was dreading his chapters. Overall the story is decent, perfect for something light to listen to while sitting at the pool on holiday, but the narration close to ruined it.

I loved the story line and the world building. Even though it’s a fantasy, the plot, characters, powers and story is never confusing.
However I didn’t like the accent for the main female character 🫤 kind of annoying at times. Besides the narrators sounded funny when they were trying to do 2 other characters (especially a female to male voice).

I thought the story was well thought out, and the main character came across as very likeable.

The female reader played her part very well.

Der Anfang ist holprig, mir war unklar, was das sollte. Und als es schon spannend war, switchte auf einmal die Stimme auf Max und der Text war irgendwie unnötig. In der Nachschau ist der Wechsel der Perspektive nicht unbedingt notwendig, um die Handlung zu verstehen.
Das Universum, das hier aufgebaut wird, ist nicht in allen Bereichen perfekt ausgefeilt, wie beispielsweise bei Tolkiens Herr der Ringe, aber die Hauptfiguren sind sehr gut gezeichnet, so dass man den Ausgang der Mission unbedingt wissen will.
Die Lesung der Sprecher ist sehr gut. Gute Unterhaltung insgesamt, und das für kostenlos im Abo 👍🏻

Why did she make the fmc sound like a whiney child? And the mmc like an old man with that weird stutter/rasp?
This made the already kind of boring story incredibily unberable.
I don’t know if I‘ll continue this series. But surely not with the audio version.
