Nicky Marlow needs a job. He's engaged to be married and the employment market in Britain in 1937 is pretty slim. So when his fiancée points out the position with an English armaments manufacturer in Italy, he jumps at the chance. Published in 1938 this book is full of information about the murderous character of facism, the Italian one and the German one.
And of course full of hope that the 3 European democratic states, France, Great Britain and the Soviet Union backed by the United States would stand together against facism.

Great story, great suspense, a lot of humour and of tenderness in the description of the main characters of the plot.

Superbly read by Daniel Weyman
