fine humor, great narrator, great story of a lifetime so different to ours now. was worth every second, to listen to the story of Mike acollins amd Apollo 11.

A little rough around the edges, but that's what makes it charming I suppose. Of the "Apollo books" I have read it is so far the most direct, personal, maybe even approachable. There are some few repetitions and it hits you in the stomach a bit less with its message. Others can do the "inspiring" and the "get out there and do amazing stuff" message a bit more convincingly. But this is still a good read for anyone interested in an adventure story and some humanity. This is NOT just for Apollo fans and I hold it in almost the same regard as "failure is not an option", which is my favorite space program book so far

Als wohl bester Schreiber unter den Astronauten des Apollo-Programms ist dieses Buch mehr als gelungen. Autor Michael Collins beschreibt in einfachen und sehr guten Worten seine Reise zum Mond und den Weg dahin. Dabei geht er mitunter auch lustig und ironisch auf zwischenmenschliches und politisches ein. Technische Zusammenhänge werden ebenfalls nicht außer acht gelassen und auch für Laien verständlich gemacht. Seine Sichtweise, vermittelt dem Leser eine Art der Authentizität und ehrliche Teilnahme an den Geschehnissen, wie es nur wenige Bücher schaffen. Der englische Sprecher hat einen hervorragenden Job gemacht.
