Marvelous

I must say I was positively surprised. The narrator does an excellent job bringing across the two characters of the book: the „author“ and above all Zorba.

The book is neat with its rather astonishing perceptions of the world. It is also crude and grotesque and deals with the battles between heaven and hell… in a very human way that is.

I learned a lot and grew together with the author. As a word of warning though: you might need to be a man to understand it. (I think, I never read the book as a woman…)

Wenn Du noch ein einziges Buch in Deinem Leben lesen oder besser hören willst, ist es Zorba. Brillant, verstörend, bezaubernd erzählt, in dieser Fassung einfühlend gelesen. Der Sprecher nimmt einen mit in die phantastische Welt von Zorba, der mir zu einem vertrauten Freund wurde. Kazantzakis hätte für dieses Werk voller Weisheit und Poesie den Nobelpreis verdient gehabt.
