I absolutely love this audio book and have listened to it many many times. Stephen Michell reads it so beautifully and with so much authenticity. The words land deep in me and evoke a longing for God, the eternal, silence. Thank you :-)

This is a terrific, lively, clear, concise audiobook version of the tao te Ching. The author speaks clearly and the translation feels very easy to understand.

If you are interested in Zen Buddhism you should also read this, the similarities and influences between both traditions will deepen and expand your understanding. At least, it has mine.

There is only the Tao. Or in zen, there is just one thing in the universe.

If you are interested in the nature of existence this is the foremost philosophy I have encountered. Stephen Mitchell's translation and accompanying notes are the preeminent way to appreciate the Tao Te Ching.

Finding the way

Even if there is a lot of academic criticism, not to have delivered a “correct” translation, this is still one of my favourite books and audios. The depth Steven Mitchell transmits is great. The spirit he offers hits the point - if there is any point at all.
