 Xenocide is the third installment of the Ender series. On Lusitania, Ender found a world where humans and pequeninos and the Hive Queen could all live together; where three very different intelligent species could find common ground at last. Or so he thought. But Lusitania also harbors the descolada, a virus which kills all humans it infects, but which the pequeninos require in order to transform into adults. The Starways Congress so fears the effect of the descolada, should it escape from Lusitania, that they have ordered the destruction of the entire planet and all who live there. I really love Enders Game but Xenocide and Speaker for the Dead are not nearly as good as the first book. A lot of good ideas and characters but both books Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide are only nice stories without the stunning effect of the first one.

If you haven't much time for reading you should only read Enders Game.

I have to admit there was a short part in the beginning, describing the holy people of the planet Path, where I got bored a bit and had to chew through. The rest was seamless continuation, in a positive sense of the "The speaker of the death". New ideas and unexpected developments in all directions. The writing just gets better and better. I loved the sensible and respectful analysis and deconstruction of religion, without offending. I started already the next book "Children of the minds" which gets even better. What a writer!

Mainly dialogue-based Sci-Fi, living from the philosophical concepts and scientific speculation it presents. Lots of great ideas and deep thought. Gave me Asimov vibes and a thirst for diving deeper into Card's broader Enderverse (I had read 3 novels by him before but that was years ago). The production is also excellent.

Eine würdiger Nachfolger zu Speaker for the Dead mit philosophischem Tiefgang und verwobenen Handlungssträngen. Fantastisch!

Eine fesselnde Geschichte mit Ender

Es ist genau wie das letzte Buch speaker for the dead ein sehr philosophisch geprägtes Buch.
Gefällt mir sehr gut und mir ist in den 20 Stunden nie langweilig geworden.

The first two books of this series are among the best I ever read or heard, mixing science fiction with religion, philosophy and fun. Xenocide has this too, and more than enough. But to make ends meet Card, near the end of this book, pulls some magic rabbit out of his head which instantly brings solutions for almost all problems, to my regret. Nontheless, four stars, and I can hardly wait for the last part of the story!

Die tiefen Gedankengänge in diesem Buch regen sehr zum Nachdenken an und die Handlung ist teils sehr bewegend. Da können schon mal Tränen fließen. Die Geschichte und Zusammenhänge sind aber teils auch sehr komplex. Aufmerksames Zuhören ist erforderlich.

The Book is not simply read but single characters especially the Hive Queen and Miro can really be experienced with their own way of communicating.
The book gets only 4 stars as I feel the ending could have been more satisfactory.
