In Lusitania, Ender found a world where humans and pequininos and the Hive Queen could all live together; where three very different intelligent species could find common ground at last. But Lusitania also harbors the descolada, a virus that kills all humans it infects, but which the pequininos require in order to become adults. The Startways Congress so fears the effects of the descolada, should it escape from Lusitania, that they have ordered the destruction of the entire planet, and all who live there. The Fleet is on its way and a second xenocide seems inevitable. Until the fleet vanishes.

The task of discovering how the ships disappeared falls to Gloriously Bright, the most brilliant analytical mind in a world of people bred for superintelligence. There is little doubt that she can solve the puzzle; but will she choose life or death for the three races who live on Lusitania?

Xenocide is the third novel in Orson Scott Card's The Ender Saga.

Kritikerstimmen

“In his afterword, Card declares, ‘The ideal presentation of any book of mine is to have excellent actors perform it in audio-only format,' and he gets his wish. Card's phenomenal emotional depth comes through in the quiet, carefully paced speech of each performer. This is a wonderful way to experience Card's best-known and most celebrated work, both for longtime fans and for newcomers.” —Publishers Weekly on ENDER'S GAME

“The characters are memorable and the pace quick. An Earphones Award winner when originally released, this audiobook is well deserving of listeners' time.” —AudioFile magazine on ENDER'S GAME

Mainly dialogue-based Sci-Fi, living from the philosophical concepts and scientific speculation it presents. Lots of great ideas and deep thought. Gave me Asimov vibes and a thirst for diving deeper into Card's broader Enderverse (I had read 3 novels by him before but that was years ago). The production is also excellent.

Reminds me of Asimov

I really love Enders Game but Xenocide and Speaker for the Dead are not nearly as good as the first book. A lot of good ideas and characters but both books Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide are only nice stories without the stunning effect of the first one.

If you haven't much time for reading you should only read Enders Game.

Not nearly as good as Enders Game

I have to admit there was a short part in the beginning, describing the holy people of the planet Path, where I got bored a bit and had to chew through. The rest was seamless continuation, in a positive sense of the "The speaker of the death". New ideas and unexpected developments in all directions. The writing just gets better and better. I loved the sensible and respectful analysis and deconstruction of religion, without offending. I started already the next book "Children of the minds" which gets even better. What a writer!

Ad worthy as the Speaker of the death!

Eine würdiger Nachfolger zu Speaker for the Dead mit philosophischem Tiefgang und verwobenen Handlungssträngen. Fantastisch!

Eine fesselnde Geschichte mit Ender

I'm not that much of a reader but this is for now one of my favorite books. The story is great and the porformance is amazing.

I didn't know I liked Sci-fi novels until now
