Es wird zwar etwas Gewöhnungsbedürftig schnell gelesen aber trotzdem erschafft E. Ballerini ein spannendes Kopfkino, welches aber auch zum Denken anregt.
Die Geschichte ist einfach aufgebaut, doch gerade dadurch wird es zum spannenden Hörvergnügen.
Im Grunde ist auch klar, wie die Geschichte enden wird aber es hielt für mich persönlich doch noch eine Überraschung bereit.

Ich hatte dieses Buch schon vor 25 Jahren auf Englisch gelesen. Und fand es damals schon toll. Allerdings ändert sich ja manchmal der Geschmack und ich hatte auch befürchtet da ich die Geschichte ja schon kenne, die Spannung weg sein würde. Aber all das hat sich nicht bewahrheitet, ich fand die Geschichte erneut richtig toll und es war so spannend, dass ich jede freie Minute genutzt habe um weiter zu hören.
Der Sprecher ist sehr gut zu verstehen und mir hat es auch sehr gut gefallen wie er es vorliest..
Fazit: Tolle, spannende Geschichte für mich perfekt vorgetragen.

Coole Geschichte! Interessante Gedankenführung zu einem intelligenten gutmütigen Hund und seinem Gegenteil und zwei Menschen die sich wiederfinden.

… I bought the first book written by Dean R. Koontz. It was the German edition of Watchers - and I was hooked!
. Today I’m done with the audio book in the origin language of the author and I’m pleased to say it’s even better in English than in German, beside I’m not a native but self educated “speaker”.
Thank you Mr. Dean R. Koontz for your formidable written artwork.

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD

I'll just jump right what i liked the least abouT the book. Probably unfairly judging it from a 2022 perspective the portrayal of the msin female character feels very outdated. Her personal growth happens through the main male character and she emancipates by emulating him. While listening to the book I got the feeling the author was pandering to a male saviour fantasy. The character finds her destiney in her function as a traditional woman in a traditional (20th century) setting. I won't give away more, but at times i could barely listen through the most transparent and cheesy parts. The author obviously wanted to empower her but doesn't manage on my eyes.
(I don't consider myself to be too much in the "woke" bubble and I am a man)

Apart from that the characters weren't interesting to me. The main male character seemed a bit like the idealised image a gloomy 13 year old might have of a protagonist (strong, terrorist fighting, wealthy, kind).

About the book being "too" american it is meant to be descriptive. I was a bit annoyed, but certainly there are people who enjoy it!

The narrator has a very pleasent voice and a good flow. At times I was suprised at how aggressively the protagonists talked to each other in his rendition, that threw me of.

The rating of 3 stars is a bit generous but I figure that the story still has an audience which will appreciate the story and craftmanship of the writing and the narrator. For me it was certainly the last Koontz book.
