Once free, he must retrieve the three “tools” that will restore his power and help him to rebuild his dominion, which has deteriorated in his absence. As the multi-threaded story unspools, The Sandman descends into Hell to confront Lucifer (Michael Sheen), chases rogue nightmares who have escaped his realm, and crosses paths with an array of characters from DC comic books, ancient myths, and real-world history, including: Inmates of Gotham City's Arkham Asylum, Doctor Destiny, the muse Calliope, the three Fates, William Shakespeare (Arthur Darvill), and many more.
A powerhouse supporting cast helps translate this masterwork into a sonic experience worthy of its legacy, including Riz Ahmed, Kat Dennings, Taron Egerton, Samantha Morton, Bebe Neuwirth, Andy Serkis, and more. Setting the stage for their performance is an unprecedented cinematic soundscape featuring an original musical score by British Academy Award winner James Hannigan. Fans will especially revel in a new twist for the audio adaptation: Neil Gaiman himself serves as the narrator. Tolles Hörbuch

a marvelous experience
I had to restrain myself from binge-listening the Sandman. I did not know the graphic novel but was able to dive onto the story nonetheless.
The play is produced very well and the athmossphere is fantastic. The story of course is dark in many episodes but poetically light in certain places. I hope part 2 will be released soon!

Love Sandman
..., loved the audiobook. Great voices, very vivid, love the story. Desire and Delirium were not my favourites to listen to, but every imagination is different and for me, everything else was spot on! Highly recommend!

Neil Gaiman's masterpiece in audio
I've been in love with the poetry of Neil Gaiman's Sandman stories for a long time. The audio adaptation did not disappoint - it's gripping, suspenseful, funny, and epic as a the original. The all-star cast make it a pleasure to listen to - my favourite performances are Kat Denning's Death and Amaka Okafor's Nada. It's only too short.

Next gen audio book
The different voices and sound effects are amazing. Great work, worth every cent. James McAvoy does a great job as Morpheus. It's completely captivating and enthralling.

Great audio performance!
Overall, a very gripping and moving performance by the cast. I love the source material, and they do it justice. The only slight grievance I have is that translating the visual elements of the comic into narrative description led to a lot of focus on "what is he/she wearing," making some of the non-verbal subtleties a bit less... Subtle. Still, I enjoyed this very much.
For more sensitive listeners, perhaps a heads up: the story deals with very heavy topics and the (voice) actors do an excellent job at portraying painful scenes.

Great to get into the DC comic universe
I was hooked by the story after just one chapter. After the fist story arc I got a bit confused as I expected it to be one 10 hour long story but instead it is a few short storys which are more or less conected.
It was unusal and very enjoyable that every character has his or her own voice actor.
