I really loved Industrial Strength Magic by the same author, so I gave this one a try. Unfortunately, it is much more dark and I just couldn't get past the kidnapping, cannibalism (from enemies, not the MC, but still it is an important topic in a part of the book) and graphic description of how exactly people are killed.
On the plus side, the narrator is fantastic and the magic system is quite different from other series. So if you like darker / more mature themes, this series might be worth a try.

Wake of the Ravager is a very well-written story with a good sense of humour. I read the first part of the series multiple times, and Steve Campbell does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. I love how some pop culture references are implemented without using the typical isekai trope. I can't recommend this story enough.
