I enjoyed this book very very much. The narration was perfect and if I could rate him above 5 stars I would. Extremely entertaining to listen to. I was out-loud laughing in many parts. Very refreshing Russian literature compared to the other Russian classics but a similar theme that runs through about life and the trials and tribulations involved. But also very funny and full of surprises. I loved this audio book, it is one of my all-time favorites.

The superb narration by JRT makes this work very accessible. The story is fantastic, supernatural but after a while I this time managed to immerse myself thanks to the speaker.
Now I understand why this book is said to be in the tradition of Goethe’s Faust. Highly recommend.

I found this book engaging and entertaining from start to finish. I might not have understood all, or even most of the subtext but I enjoyed it all nonetheless. The performance is absolutely amazing with clearly distinguishable voices, non of which are annoying. Fantastic!
