Über diesen Titel

This fiftieth-anniversary edition commemorates Joseph Heller’s masterpiece with a new introduction; critical essays and reviews by Norman Mailer, Alfred Kazin, Anthony Burgess, and others; rare papers and photos; and much more.

Nominated as one of America’s best-loved novels by PBS’s The Great American Read.

Now a Hulu limited series starring Christopher Abbott, George Clooney, Kyle Chandler, and Hugh Laurie.

Fifty years after its original publication, Catch-22 remains a cornerstone of American literature and one of the funniest—and most celebrated—books of all time. In recent years it has been named to “best novels” lists by Time, Newsweek, the Modern Library, and the London Observer.

Set in Italy during World War II, this is the story of the incomparable, malingering bombardier, Yossarian, a hero who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy—it is his own army, which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to excuse himself from the perilous missions he’s assigned, he’ll be in violation of Catch-22, a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule: a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but if he makes a formal request to be removed from duty, he is proven sane and therefore ineligible to be relieved.

This fiftieth-anniversary edition commemorates Joseph Heller’s masterpiece with a new introduction by Christopher Buckley; a wealth of critical essays and reviews by Norman Mailer, Alfred Kazin, Anthony Burgess, and others; rare papers and photos from Joseph Heller’s personal archive; and much more. Here, at last, is the definitive edition of a classic of world literature.

The best reading of any book I've ever come across. 10/10 would start over.

Never heard any better

A true masterpiece and one of the funniest books ever written,
This audio book is not only convenient to listen instead of reading it yourself, but the experience is greatly enhanced by a brilliant and colorful narration that does wonders for the lively and hilarious dialogues in the book.

It's a classic for a good reason

The book is a satirical absurd anti-war novel, i liked it very much, but I really want to recommend the reading by Jay O'Sanders. His performance is the reason I relistend it 5 times going on 6.

He reads very dynamic, meaning he varies in tempo (speed and breaks), intensity and pitch.
He goes for a rather livid interpretation of the text, like he is expieriencing it, not the neutral observant storyteller style.
Nothing against neutral interpretation, but i think it really fits with the book here.

There was a huge amount of refinement pourd into this and I very much enjoy his great tecnical and emotional performance.

if you like good books getting read by a good reader that beautifully explores the possibilities given to him, get this.
this can be disasterous if the actor is bad, but he is not. its the good stuff.

Great book but really loved the reading

A masterpiece that will never go out of relevance. Must read...............
This minimum number of letters to post a review is really annoying

Hilarious

The reading is bad due to the fact that the reader adjusts its tone and volume according to his interpretation of the character.
One second he is whispering and the next he is screaming.
I need an even voice.
It’s impossible to listen to this.

Poor reading performance
