Der ich-Erzähler William Mandella spannt den Bogen von der ersten Begegnung mit einer außerirdischen Rasse über die Grundausbildung in der Armee, seine Kampfeinsätze und die nächsten tausend Jahre.
Die hauptcharaktere sind plastisch vorgestellt, die Handlung spannend, technische Konzepte plausibel erklärt. hochinteressant finde ich die Zukunftsvision der Gesellschaft und dem miteinander, die sich über die Zeit entrollt sowie die Gedanken darüber.

zurecht ein echter Klassiker der Science Fiction.

but here is one. This is no blown up mini story called space opera...here you get one idea with its possible repercussions and this done very nicly. This book I only recomend, even if its not tech focused as I usually prefere it, here was nothing at all missing. Give it a try if you are searching for not just for entertainment (which you will find here more than enough) and instead look for a real idea worth thinking about in real life...or somthing called "mindboggling".

Vorausgesetzt, man liebt Military-Science Fiction-Operas, dann ist dieses Buch ein Muss!
Alles spielt sich letztlich in der fernen, fernen Zukunft der Menschheit ab, und doch hat dieses Buch einen ähnlich augenzwinkernden Blick auf unsere Gegenwart wie der Film „Idiocracy“, den ich an dieser Stelle jedermann nur wärmstens empfehlen kann.

how this book could win all the sci-fi awards is beyond me. I mean the story is lacking in so many directions. could also just be my high expectations after reading the three body Problem. I understand the aburdities of the war mongering the author is trying to get at, but I think the depiction is just lacking.
