The three laws of Robotics: 1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm 2) A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
With these three, simple directives, Isaac Asimov changed our perception of robots forever when he formulated the laws governing their behavior. In I, Robot, Asimov chronicles the development of the robot through a series of interlinked stories: from its primitive origins in the present to its ultimate perfection in the not-so-distant future - a future in which humanity itself may be rendered obsolete.

Eigenwillig und Unerwartet
Eigenwillg und Unerwartet sind zwei Worte, die mir beim Anhören eingefallen sind. Unerwartet, da es sich nicht um eine durchgängige Geschichte sondern um eine Rahmenhandlung mit einer Sammlung von Kurzgeschichten handelt. Eigenwillig ist ein Attribut aus heutiger Sicht - auf Grund des Alters des Buches ist die Sicht auf technische Dinge wie Roboter und Computer eine erfrischend andere, an die man sich ersteinmal gewöhnen muss. Jedoch sind die dahinterliegenden Aspekte, die Auswirkungen und Interpretation der Regeln sowie im hinteren Teil des Buches die Bezugnahme auf die menschliche Gesellschaft hochinteressant und durchaus aktuell. Unerwartet aktuell sogar - es ist erstaunlich wie der Autor verschiedene heutige Probleme bereits so trefflich beschreibt.
Die Sammlung von Kurzgeschichten erleichtert das Hören in Etappen, somit ist das Hörbuch für 'Intervallhörer' besonders gut geeignet - allerdings erfordert es doch auch gewisse Aufmerksamkeit, da es sonst schwer verständlich ist.

the cover sucks!
The book shows it's age but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
The optimism of the time is just heartwarming and it made me realize that I love atompunk for all it's demented ideas of how technology is going to develop.
p.s. I found the idea that a space station full of robots doesn't use computers incredible funny

Amazing…
…how this story from 1950 still feels relevant and modern. Considering the rise and development of AI (now in 2023), it makes this novel shine in a new light.

Fantastic classic Sci-Fi
A Sci-Fi classic well recorded and kept within the original text.
I robot is a classic thought experiment on how even benevolent robots are not just humans in robot bodies.

I loved the stories and also the Melancholie ending. The best Story is Evidence. Truly a masterpiece.

The classic is starting to show its age
it is a great work, or collection of stories;
in view of present day advances it is however not as realistic as it could be
(i'm very much in to 'hard' (realistic) scifi)
