Über diesen Titel
Spensa is sure there's more to the story. And she's sure that whatever happened to her father in his starship could happen to her. When she made it outside the protective shell of her planet, she heard the stars - and it was terrifying. What she learned turned her world upside down. Everything Spensa's been taught is a lie.
But Spensa also learned a few things about herself - and she'll travel to the end of the galaxy to save humankind if she needs to.
Praise for Brandon Sanderson's #1 New York Times Bestselling Reckoners series:

'Compelling . . . Sanderson uses plot twists that he teases enough for readers to pick up on to distract from the more dramatic reveals he has in store' AV Club©2019 Dragonsteel Entertainment LLC

The pacing on this one was a little odd. And there are quite a few moments where not all that much happens. But all in all it was a great read. It's a great follow up, that expanses the universe a bit and answer some questions that the previous book left open. At the same time you are left with even more questions at the end though. It stops on a cliffhanger, which only irritates me because i now have to wait until the 3rd & 4th book comes out. And who knows when that will be.
To summarise: It just sucked me in and i didnt want to stop. it's worse that the first book but its still an amazing read that i definitely recommend!
Im just in love with this Universe

First things first, the more fans and the more attention a book gets, the more theories the fans will develop. It gets therefore more and more difficult for the author to fulfill these expectations, since the theories can be a bit "over the top".
Sometimes a stone is just a stone and not a passage to another world, for example.
I have the feeling that Skyward may face similar problems, with fans hoping for "mindblowing" explanations where in reality the actual explanations are much more simple in the end. Even I, trying desperately not to fall for that kind of "biased thoughts" sometimes caught myself thinking "wait - seriously? It's that simple? That's all there is to it?"
But that's not really the author who is to blame for that - on the contrary, sometimes it's refreshing, that a "stone is just a stone".
Brandon Sanderson does an amazing job keeping tension up - where other Authors tend to have "fillers" or a few minutes of descriptions of travels and landscapes, Sanderson tends to skip those parts. This however, can sometimes give a bit of a "rushed" feeling - some books have 30 hours of listening time and you get the feeling they could've fit in 15 - this one is exactly the opposite. Some people like that, I am also one of those, even if that means that the audiobook is over much sooner than I would prefer.
Sophie Aldred is doing an excellent job as well - even as a german I have no problems understanding her and her voice for M-Bot is especially nice and gives the already hilarious "robot" his own personality. She is also capable of impressive amounts of acting, especially when it comes to characters in stress or panic - which really feels more realistic and emotional than I am used to from other audiobooks.
This audiobook definitely deserves the 5 Stars and I can only hope that the next books will keep up the standard, which - judging by the quality of other works of Sanderson - I am sure it will.
Sanderson at his best!
