This story is so extraordinary and unheard-of. I'm so glad that I tried this great book of Brandon Sanderson. I was hooked from the beginning and were waiting for the sequel "Fireflight" which just came out this month.

And the speaker? I am speechless. MacLeod Andrews is so unbelievable talented and colorful. His ability to switch between different voices and accents is just amazing!

Bottom line: If you are open for science fiction and action, try it and you will love it!

Ich finde es immer wieder faszinierend mit welch neuen Szenarien Brandon Sanderson an den Start einer neuen Serie geht.
Warum sollten Menschen mit überlegenen Fähigkeiten zu 'Helden' werden und für die normalen Menschen eine bessere Welt schaffen ?
Würden Meschen mit entsprechender Überlegenheit diese nicht eher zu ihrem Vorteil nutzen ?

Eine interessante Ausgangslage und einmal wieder mit hohem Tempo in eine recht actionlastige Geschichte gepackt.
Bin schon gespannt was Sanderson noch alles dazu einfällt.

Spannend und gut geschrieben bis zum Schluss. Ich mag auch den Hauptcharakter. Freue mich auf die Fortsetzung.

Bin zum ersten Mal enttäuscht von Sanderson. Ordentlich geschrieben aber nicht wirklich mitreißend für mich. Der Magie wird alles Faszinierendes genommen, zu viel in der Weltgeschichte herumgeschossen und sehr düster erzählt.

The story and Sandersons world building are amazing as usual. I was really annoyed by the treatment of the one (!) main female character, however. Especially the way in which the main character treats her in the beginning (and it's viewed as "flirting") and how she's tossed aside at the end. Vin was the only woman in Kelzier's team but at least she got stuff done and didnt only exist as a love interest without contributing to the actual story. Still, this might improve in the next books of the series.
In general, Sanderson seems to have liked his main character a bit too much, he finds a way out of all difficult situations that somehow the much more experienced teammates don't.
