Eine sehr gute Story (vielmehr mehrere Stories) und ebenfalls sehr gute Sprecher. Ich hatte allerdings gehofft, dass die Geschichte noch ein wenig weiterzurückgeht. Interessant wäre, mehr von Thrawn zu erfahren bevor er zum Militär kam. Oder mehr Rückblicke in dieser Zeit. Auch mehr persönliche Hintergründe über ihm und seine Familie. Man erfährt nur sehr kurz etwas über eine Schwester. Dazu schreibe ich aber nicht. Fazit: Sehr empfehlenswert. Ich bin auf die Fortsetzungen sehr gespannt.

As started with the Thrawn Books there's a mix of memories and present. Which weaves seamlessly into the other books. But does not leave you confused or clueless when you haven't read the others. I do enjoy the other characters perspectives. The different Voices are distinct enough to keep track of, even if sometimes difficult to listen to like Jafosk or Aralani.

Nach Timothy Zahn's klassischen 5 Thrawn-Bücher und der neuen Thrawn Trilogy hat er auch mit dem ersten Buch seiner Thrawn's Vorgeschichte erzählenden Trilogy wieder ein sehr spannendes und qualitativ hochwertiges Werk erschaffen, welches einen gelungenen Auftakt für diese darstellt. Besonders die Hörbuch-Edition, gesprochen vom absolut genialen Marc Thompson lohnt sich zu hören ... mehrmals ... was auch zu empfehlen ist: Aufgrund der beiden parallelen Handlungsstränge (einer in der Vergangenheit, einer in der Gegenwart), in denen viele Charaktere ebenfalls paralell auftauchen und die auf einander aufbauen, passierte es mir hin und wieder, die Orientierung zu verlieren und so die beiden Story-Lines zu verwechseln. Aus diesem Grund ist es auch empfehlenswert das Hörbuch nicht mit mehrtägigen Pausen durchzuhören – das steigert das Verwirrungspotential noch mehr. Wenn man die Geschichte schon kennt, passiert das bei einem zweiten (ebenfalls sehr empfehlenswerten) Durchhören aber nicht mehr so schnell und man versteht außerdem manche Zusammenhänge zwischen den gegenwärtigen und vergangenen Ereignissen besser. Diese Komplexität könnte womöglich einige Hörer abschrecken – tut sie dies nicht, dann spreche ich für dich/Sie eine uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung aus!

Thrawn is a very special thing for himself. Not just in the start wars universe. but that story did fit spot on and I can't wait for the other parts. the voice acting was standing.
