    Inhaltsangabe

Based on unproduced episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, this new novel features Asajj Ventress, former Sith apprentice turned bounty hunter and one of the great antiheroes in Star Wars history.

The only way to bring down the Sith's most dangerous warrior may be to join forces with the dark side.

In the war for control of the galaxy between the armies of the dark side and the Republic, former Jedi Master turned ruthless Sith Lord Count Dooku has grown ever more brutal in his tactics. Despite the powers of the Jedi and the military prowess of their clone army, the sheer number of fatalities is taking a terrible toll. And when Dooku orders the massacre of a flotilla of helpless refugees, the Jedi Council feels it has no choice but to take drastic action: targeting the man responsible for so many war atrocities, Count Dooku himself.

But the ever-elusive Dooku is dangerous prey for even the most skilled hunter. So the Council makes the bold decision to bring both sides of the Force's power to bear - pairing brash Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos with infamous one-time Sith acolyte Asajj Ventress. Though Jedi distrust for the cunning killer who once served at Dooku's side still runs deep, Ventress' hatred for her former master runs deeper. She's more than willing to lend her copious talents as a bounty hunter - and assassin - to Vos' quest.

Together, Ventress and Vos are the best hope for eliminating Dooku - as long as the emerging feelings between them don't compromise their mission. But Ventress is determined to have her retribution and at last let go of her dark Sith past. Balancing the complicated emotions she feels for Vos with the fury of her warrior's spirit, she resolves to claim victory on all fronts - a vow that will be mercilessly tested by her deadly enemy... and her own doubt.

    Praise for Dark Disciple:

“Reading Dark Disciple really feels like you’re watching some of the best episodes of The Clone Wars.” (EUCantina)

“Emotionally charged.... Christie Golden does a wonderful job of capturing the characters.” (Roqoo Depot)

“A cool inclusion into the Star Wars mythos.... Ventress and Vos have a cool and compelling dynamic, and are used to explore more of what it means to flirt with the Dark Side of the Force.” (IGN)

“[The Clone Wars have been] a huge part of the Star Wars brand for years, and [Christie] Golden manages to craft a story worthy of the themes and characters that fans have come to relate to.... [She] uses this opportunity to craft Dark Disciple into a spy/espionage thriller.” (Tech Times

“Golden especially excelled at bringing Ventress’s biting but appealing personality to life.... She’s very much a woman trying to find her way, and Dark Disciple adds nuance.” (Nerdist)

The End of the Clone Wars Animated Series

Like the book Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston this one finishes the storyline brilliantly. I would recommend reading/listening to "Star Wars: Ahsoka" ane the Marvel comic "Star Wars: Kanan".

Lohnt sich für Star Wars Fans!

Grandiose Charaktere.

    Nice Story (with plot holes)

I've already read this novel in the German translation.
Due to Marc Thompson's superb skills in imitating the voices of the protagonists, the Sound effects and Star Wars themes I liked the audiobook much better.
These aspects Not withstanding there are some plot holes concerning Vos's fall to the Dark Side.
It provides the reader with some nice plot turns, I will grant Ms. Golden.
But why does Asajj first feels the Dark in Vos - she alone, not even Yoda - but later she is just soooo deeply in love her force sensivity is dulled?
The explanation Vos did Not admit his Dark nature to himself is... far fetched at best.
Killing lots of clones and two fellow Jedi and He did not know what He has become?
And last but Not least: the chronological consistency. How long is this third year of TCW? I mean, he has to atone in the end, is unser Yoda's supervision, but - as we know from Episode III - he is a Jedi General in the field, and "has moved his troops to Boz Pity".
I don't see a Jedi Council with Mace Windu giving him after those drastic misdeeds the command as General just A few months later.
However, one can enjoy the story all the same.

Horribly forced love story full of clichés.

The first half was actually fun (aside from the constant unnessecary comments about Ventress' appearance) Voss and Ventress teaming up, saving a Pyke family and agreeing to go after Dooku together. In the second half, suddenly Anakin is there (why? He just gives stupid comments and looks), Voss turns several times and suddenly is more powerful than Ventress. It doesn't make sense. Also, Mace Windu's portrayal doesn't do him justice.

The "romance" between Ventress and Voss was really uncomfortable. I think there was potential for an interesting love story in the beginning but it was kept too physical to develop into something real so the "trust me even though I've betrayed your trust before and I'm not gonna tell you my plan so you just gotta trust me bro" moment in the end felt just wrong. It also didn't help that in the second half Voss' POV got removed entirely so we pretty much only get the perspectives of Ventress and Kenobi which is a shame because the whole turning between light and dark side and why Voss acts like he does doesn't get explained.
