A tale of dark secrets, deep love, and dangerous magic!

Since childhood, Sabriel has lived outside the walls of the Old Kingdom, away from the random power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who refuse to stay dead. But now her father, the Charter-Mage Abhorsen, is missing, and to find him Sabriel must cross back into that world. With Mogget, whose feline form hides a powerful, perhaps malevolent spirit, and Touchstone, a young Charter Mage, Sabriel travels deep into the Old Kingdom. There she confronts an evil that threatens much more than her life--and comes face-to-face with her own hidden destiny. Science Fiction Science Fiction & Fantasy

Garth Nix offers a really unique fantasy vision in this series, one that I had a hard time finishing, simply because I didn't want it to end. A bit grim at times and never afraid to explore the macabre, this fantasy borders on the horrific at times. Tim Curry does a lovely job of bringing the characters to life.
all-in-all, a really enteratining listen!

This is a very entertaining story about Good vs. Evil, including necromncers, zombies, malicious dark spirits, a reluctant heroine & her friends, and a drop of romance. Tim Curry does a marvellous job bringing each character to life !
"Sabriel" is book 1 of the "Abhorsen-Triology" - be sure to get them in the correct order:

1. SABRIEL 2.LIRIEL 3.ABHORSEN

Great book! Get it!

Curry's performance isn't bad (not my preferred choice though), but unfortunately there are severe technical problems with this audiobook.

There were several confusingly disjointed moments in the story, which on comparison with the written text showed passages being omitted from the recording. One such example is late in chapter 20, where the entire part of "shielding her eyes from" until "force sparkling between them" is absent.

unorthodox, wundervoll geschrieben, wunderbar gesprochen
