A standout hero, a strong emotional journey, and top-tier narration
After absolutely loving Fight, the first book in the series, I had high expectations for Protect — and it did not disappoint!
Rowan was an absolute dream of a male character. Attentive, protective, loyal, and best of all, unapologetically straightforward. I loved that he didn’t play games or hide his feelings. After waiting ten long years, Rowan wasn’t about to waste another second when it came to Violette. His honesty and determination made him stand out, and it was refreshing to see a hero who knew exactly what — and who — he wanted.
Violette, on the other hand, carried the weight of past hurt and assumptions, which kept her guarded. At times, I wanted to shake her for not giving Rowan a chance to explain sooner, but once the truth was out, their love story unfolded in such a beautiful and heartfelt way. I especially adored how Rowan didn’t just fall for Violette again — he also fell hard for her daughter, which added so much depth to his character and their relationship.
The narration was spot on. Gideon Frost and Samantha Brentmoor delivered an excellent performance, bringing both Rowan and Violette to life perfectly. Their voices fit the characters so well, adding emotion and intensity in all the right places. It made the listening experience even more immersive and enjoyable.
Overall, Protect was a heartfelt second-chance romance with the perfect balance of angst, love, and healing. A standout hero, a strong emotional journey, and top-tier narration — what more could you ask for? I can’t wait to see what Paisley Hope delivers next!
