Zanders: Chicago hockey isn't complete without me—everyone's favorite player to hate. I know my role, and I play it well. In fact, I thoroughly enjoy spending the majority of my game time in the penalty box before leaving the arena with a new girl on my arm each night.

What I don't like is the new flight attendant on our team's private plane. She works for me, not the other way around. But I'll be sure to remind her of that, and I can guarantee, by the end of the season, she'll be begging to quit her job.

But every road trip blurs the lines, and I can't quite figure out if I keep pushing that flight attendant call button in order to push her buttons or if it's more than that.

Stevie: I've been a flight attendant for years. I thought I'd see it all, but when my new job lands me onboard working for the most egotistical and self-righteous diva in the NHL, I start to second guess everything. Including the promise I made to myself of never hooking up with an athlete again . . . no matter how annoyingly tempting he may be.

Zanders is unfiltered, unapologetic, and too attractive for his own good. He loves his image, but I hate everything about it.

The story was emotional, and I couldn't put the book down. However, I think that the story was a bit too long in places, and many conflicts were repeated a number of times, sometimes unnecessarily. The supporting roles, especially the mothers of the main roles, were a bit over the top. I always find this good-evil character play a bit unnecessary, for example, did C's mother have to be overly stupid? She could have just been a little self-reflective, with the same end result in terms of C's decision. I just find it annoying that unsympathetic supporting roles in many novels, not just this one, are so unrealistically narcissistic, which often makes storylines seem a bit contrived and unnecessarily unrealistic. Nevertheless, I thought the story was great, a "plus size" woman, a guy who can actually have "everyone"...both POC...I just thought that was great, without using clichés too much...great read

This is really a boring story…. Endless whining about the imperfect female body and other insecurities. I also did not like the narrators.

Die beiden Sprecher sind ganz furchtbar. Obwohl die Protagonisten in ihren 20ern sind, klingen die beiden Sprecher wie Mitte 40. Sie lesen sehr lieblos eine ohnehin schon langweilige Geschichte vor. Ich habe nach 30 Prozent aufgegeben.

Nice love story, but one that has been told many times.. and it’s not really about hockey.. so the story could be told in way less pages/hours.

I picked up «Mile High» by Liz Tomforde because it was getting a lot of attention. I thought, with all the hype and positive ratings, it could only be good, right? But oh boy, was I mistaken.

It felt like torture hearing 17h of this book. Honestly, I'm not even sure what happened because it just felt like the same old romance clichés playing out over and over again.
Let's talk about Zander. He's your typical womaniser/ playboy. But as we get to know him, we find out he's not really a bad guy, just a victim of circumstances and some trauma. Then there's Stevie, who magically changes Zander's behavior after just one night together. Suddenly, they're inseparable, needing each other like they can't live without one another.
And don't even get me started on Zander's manager. What a jerk!
The only thing okay was the breakup towards the end, which felt somewhat realistic. But still there was so much boredom. I had to resort to speeding up the audiobook just to get through it all. And I had to change from reading the book to listening to the audiobook…

In conclusion, «Mile High» was disappointing. It's just another clichéd romance novel with nothing new to offer.
