Callahan
Fighting wildfires is the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do and I’m damn good at it. Being the captain of an interagency hotshot crew of wildland firefighters is high-risk, high-reward. The risk blindsided me five years ago when I lost one of my crew and was changed forever. Now the only rewards I allow are to work harder, smarter, and enjoy easy, sexy nights with strangers.
Until I meet Prescott Timmons. Her smart-mouth and adventurous spirit have me forgetting all of my rules—until her past shows up and lies start to feel too familiar. I swear to never spare her a second glance, but when she finds herself in a life or death situation with mother nature, my instincts kick in, and I take action. Stranded and sharing a bed again, we’re forced to face our truth. Do we let this fire burn out or fight?
©2025 Prost LLC (P)2025 Prost LLCFight by Sloane St. James was such a great surprise—a strong start to the Sky Ridge Hotshots series and my first read by this author. The story follows Callahan, the closed-off and brooding captain of a wildland firefighter hotshot crew, still haunted by personal and professional trauma from five years ago. He’s fully devoted to his work and absolutely uninterested in letting anyone get close—until Scottie walks into his life.
Scottie was an instant favorite. I often find female main characters frustrating, but not her—she’s warm, adventurous, and full of life despite her heartbreaking past. Escaping a controlling religious cult, she finds strength, joy, and a sense of belonging in her new role as the EMT in the firehouse—and eventually, in Callahan’s arms. She’s looking for home, love, and connection, and watching her journey was deeply satisfying.
Their love story is a bit of a whirlwind—intense, emotional, and full of twists. Tropes like forced proximity, enemies to lovers, trauma healing, and survival in snowy mountains are all blended beautifully. The romance is fast and passionate but balanced with depth, making their bond feel real and earned.
The spice? Beautifully done—tender, steamy, and emotional. And the duet narration by Brandon Francis and Savannah Thomas really elevated the experience. Both narrators brought the characters to life in a vivid and engaging way.
All in all, Fight is emotional, sexy, and gripping. A great listen with a heroine who truly stands out and a love story that hits all the right beats.
