Perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli and Nina LaCour, this queer coming-of-age story from the
author of The Falling in Love Montage is wry, multilayered, and
unflinchingly honest.

Aideen has plenty of problems she can’t solve. But
when she stumbles upon overachiever Meabh Kowalska having a full-blown
meltdown, she sees one that she can actually fix. Meabh is desperate to escape
her crushing pile of extracurriculars. Aideen volunteers to help—by pushing her
down the stairs.

Problem? Solved. Meabh’s sprained ankle is the perfect
excuse to ditch her overwhelming schedule. But when one of their classmates
learns about their little scheme, more “clients” start asking for Aideen’s
“help”—kicking off a semester of traded favors, ill-advised hijinks, and even
an unexpected chance at love.

Fixing other people’s problems won’t fix her own. But it
might be the push Aideen needs to start.

I didn't expect anything out of the ordinary, but by Chapter 2 it took a really surprising turn that kept me hooked throughout.

The characters and their problems feel real in a way they don't usually feel in these types of books, which often end up glossing over or trivializing the issues they portrait. At the same time the book is really fun and entertaining, the romance developed believingly on the back burner and the writing is smart and very witty from the get go.

The setting in Ireland differentiate it nicely from the norm, yet never feel cliche, also thanks to the great narrator. I legitimately had tears in my eyes at the last sentence and will also now never forget the term flibbery giblets. Definitely going to read more from this author.

More than your typical YA or queer romance novel

I listened to it in one sitting and have been thinking about it ever since.

Its not about a coming out, it's not really about the love story at all, but the live story is still present enough to not feel forced or out of nothing.
There is representation of different ethnicities and very present class struggles.

You get a really good grip on the main character, and you learn to really adore her.

I cried, I laughed, there is a man in here that I really care about, and I want to re-listen to it right now.

The reading is done in a charming Irish accent, at least I think it is, but I'm not a native English speaker so I cannot really place it, and the only problem I had with it is, that I'm not sure of the main characters friends name is Harley or Holly.
I'll never know.

Was sceptical first, but...
