I am usually reading almost exclusively scifi, bought this on a whim and enjoyed every second. lovely, waiting for next book.

positive surprise in all aspects

Viv ist eine Abenteuerin, deren erster Kaffee in einer Gnomenstadt der finale Tropfen in ihrem Überdrussfass ist, der sie dazu veranlasst ihr gewaltreiches Leben hinter sich zu lassen und in einer kleinen Stadt ein Café zu eröffnen.

Wie man sich vorstellen kann, ist dieses Unternehmen mit gewissen Problemen und Hindernissen verbunden, aber es sind alles mehr oder weniger banale, alltägliche Probleme. Es gibt keine große Phrophezeiung, keine Pläne die Welt zu retten – oder zu zerstören –, keine Schurken zu besiegen. Stattdessen sind die Konflikte in diesem Roman auf einem Niveau gehalten, die für uns banale Menschen in unserer magielosen Welt nachvollziehbar sind.

Travis Baldree ist ein kompetenter Sprecher, der sich nach ein paar Jahren und hunderten Büchern vor'm Mikro selbst an die Feder gewagt hat. Legends & Lattes wird gerne als Vorzeigeexemplar für Cozy Fantasy ("gemütliche Fantasiegeschichten") heranzitiert, aber irgendwie ist es für mich immer noch zu konfliktbeladen, um sich gemütlich zu nennen. Vielleicht würde ich das anders sehen, wenn sich die gleichen Konflikte, wie sie bereits jetzt im Buch vorhanden sind, über ein paar mehr Stunden Lektüre hätten entwickeln können.

Ich bin ein bisschen versucht, mal in die deutsche Ausgabe, gelesen von Stefan Kaminski, reinzuhören; der Hörprobe nach zu urteilen, ist Kaminski mehr Erzähler als Vorleser im Vergleich zu Baldree's selbst gelesenem Werk. Was nicht heißen soll, dass Baldree schlechte Arbeit geleistet hat; allerdings überkreischt sich die Aufnahme in Kapitel 24 und 26 etwas in Sequenzen, wo Charaktere schreien.

I am so glad to have stumbled across this beautiful story.
It's not an epic tale or filled to the brim with action and surprises, so if you're looking for that, this might not be for you...
To me, this book gives of the very feeling of being warm. It fells like curling up in a blanket, tea (or coffee) in hand and existing peacefully.
The narrator might be a little fast at times, but I'm no native speaker, so I probably shouldn't and musn't judge.
The characters are lovely and very well voiced, and the discribed world showed vivid in my mind.
I was a truly sad when it ended and can't wait for the prequel I saw advertised.

I was looking for a wholesome, slice of life fantasy story and this delivers on so many levels. It’s wholesome, it’s fresh and I oh so want one of those cinnamon rolls :)
There’s even is a progression/litrpg element hidden in plain sight which is awesome.

I didn't know I needed cozy fantasy books but now it's all I want. It's as good as a hot coffee or in my case a vegan matcha latte. Craving more of this delight!

Admittedly I had never heard of the cozy fantasy genre before, but this story is absolutely adorable! It feels kinda like the coffee shop!AU to high fantasy.
Viv makes for an interesting protagonist. She's strong physically and knows what she wants, but is delightfully in personal matters. Also, a nice orc as a main character who isn't just a fighter was pretty cool.
Her support cast is lovely, too. I loved Cal, Thimble and especially the love interest.
With a low stakes plot, the entire story is just - fun!

Travis is one of my favorite voice actors. The moment I heared he had written a book I thought it would be good.
I was wrong, it was amazing. The story is very sweet and the charakters lovely.

If I'd need to citicise one point it would be that I'd loved to spend more time with the charakters.
