This audio book has been an absolute blast! The way the main character was starting to accept her new role as a (somewhat 😅) professional badass alien-killer was regularly bringing laughing tears to my eyes! 🤣

A really interesting part of the book are the little information snippets about the state of the world the story takes place in. Every chapter (70+) begins with a short extract of a news report, an interview, a comment on Reddit, a military guide ... from different points in time after the aliens first showed up on earth. That's a very unique way of giving the reader or listener a better understanding of the story's world.

Both narrators, Hollie Jackson who performs the actual story and Pavi Proczko who performs the news reports, etc. that I just mentioned, are brilliant. I recognized Hollie Jackson's voice immediately. She can do a whole range of different characters, giving each a unique voice that fits them perfectly.

I'm so happy to see that books 2 and 3 are already available, so I'll stop here because I'm hella excited to continue! 🤠

This book is great. Witty humour, all the pop-culture references one would expect from a cyberpunk-y setting in the not so distant future combined with a lot more cursing than I was used to from previous Ravensdagger works I've listened to.

My only criticism really boils down to the length. Most of the book (about 10 out of the 11 hours) covers roughly 6 hours in the life of Cat. I enjoyed it a lot, but I will dock one point in my overall rating because it just didn't feel like it had an ending, more so that the whole book was just an intro. It's a great demo to an amazing world that I'm looking forward to exploring further in the future.

..der Anfang ist etwas, naja... sagen wir der MC ist etwas "langsam" und einiges wird für mich zu ausführlich beim "Einkauf" wiederholt. Aber es wird besser und mit einem gewissen Witz versehen.

Es fühlt sich etwas wie eine Demo an und die Story ist quasi ein Tag.

Freue mich auf den 2. Teil.

Man kann dies als Hidden Gem bezeichnen. 🙂

Lustig, spannen und vom world building eine absolute nummer 1.
Man merkt dass es Bucht 1 ist und alles erst ins rollen kommt aber nichtsdestotrotz super gemacht. die welt ist erschreckend realistisch beschrieben und die kleinen kommentare am anfang der kapitel geben ein immens gutes bild von der gesellschaft in der die geschichte spielt.
