Dieser zweite Teil setzt direkt da an, wo The Witching Hour aufgehört hat und begleitet anfangs Michael Curry und andere Mitglieder der Mayfair Hexen. Hierbei wird den bereits bekannten Familienmitgliedern mehr Tiefe verliehen und neue Geheimnisse enthüllt. Den spannenden Mittelpunkt bildet jedoch diesmal Lasher und die Erforschung seiner Natur und Herkunft, diese blieben selbst nach dem Ende des ersten Teils ein Geheimnis. Die Antworten, die man bekommt, sind dabei überraschend und fügen sich gut in die bisherige Handlung ein. Auch die Geheimorganisation Talamasca spielt eine größere Rolle, da sie Kontrolle über Lasher und seine Entwicklung ergreifen will. Lasher ist wie das erste Buch sehr spannend und erweitert mit Finesse die Mythologie von Anne Rice's Mayfair Saga.
Kate Reading macht als Sprecherin auch wieder einen großartigen Job.
