Jetzt, wo das ganze Ausmaß von Epsteins finsterer Welt jeden Tag offensichtlicher wird, ist es umso erschütternder, dass praktisch nahezu jedes Detail in Virginia Giuffries Buch steht. So viele Mädchen hätten vor diesem bodenlosen Missbrauch bewahrt werden können. Es hätte ihnen nur jemand Glauben schenken müssen… einfach hinschauen. Aber weil Kindesmissbrauch eben, wie auch bei Giuffree, so oft als still geduldetes Geheimnis in der Familie beginnt, zu 80%, ist das Leben auf eine Weise kontextualisiert, dass das seelische Entkommen selbst bei physischer Flucht unmöglich wird. Denn immer wird dem Kind die Schuld zugewiesen, mit der Zerstörung der Familie gedroht, wie auch in Giuffries Fall, der schließlich in Selbstmord endet.
Der schrecklichste Satz, der alles umreißt, was diese monströse Geschichte ausmacht, ist dieser von Epstein: „Frauen sind im besten Fall ein Support-System für ihre Vagina.“ Eine Ansicht, die er offensichtlich nicht nur mit den einflussreichsten Männern der Welt teilte, sondern auch mit all den Frauen, die ihm immer mehr Mädchen zugeführt haben, allen voran Ghislaine Maxwell. Nahezu alles, was man über Epsteins kranke Welt wissen muss, steht in diesem Buch. Dass die Ausbeutung und Verachtung auf sämtlichen finanziellen Ebenen auf ebenso gewissenlose Weise stattfindet, ist dann in keiner Weise mehr überraschend. Wer sich in einem solchen Ausmaß an Kindern vergeht, vergeht sich auch an allem anderen. Und wenn Virginia Giuffre die Veröffentlichung, der Epstein Files noch erlebt hätte, dann hätte das vermutlich auch nichts daran geändert, dass ihre Seele schon untergegangen war, als ihr Vater über sie her fiel, als sie sieben Jahre alt war. Es wird so schwer für ihre Kinder sein, damit zu leben.
