Listening to this book broke my heart. For years I was a devoted fan of all their channels, Grandma and Grandpa Griffith, Elli and Jared, Bonnie Hoellein and Julie Deru. And of course 8 passengers . I quit all. Abd the other mom vloggers too. It’s a horrible nightmare what these kids went through and nobone shouls support this anymore. All the best for Shari and her siblings.

Hearing what Shari has been through in her own words left me shocked and heartbroken. Her resilience is remarkable. Yet, despite all her pain, she somehow managed to stay respectful and levelheaded describing her journey in this book. She also never mentioned the names of her siblings or anything personal about their stories. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to understand what children, who grow up in abusive households, go through. I hope Shari can continue to heal in the years to come.

Beautifully written story of unwavering strength and bravery. Wow. I thought I knew a lot about this case due to watching the channels for years and supporting Shari, but she was so vulnerable in this book and opened up about so many awful unfathomable things. But what a beautiful, inspiring young woman Shari has become, like she says, in spite of Ruby. So proud of you Shari, wishing you all the love and happiness for your future!

Ich konnte nicht aufhören dieses Hörbuch zu hören, weil mich die Geschichte von Shari Franke so sehr berührt. Ich hatte vorher die Doku über die Familie Franke gesehen und wollte unbedingt Sharis Geschichte erfahren. Das Buch ist sehr gut geschrieben und ich finde es wirklich beeindruckend und mutig, dass Shari ihr eigenes Buch eingesprochen hat. Man spürt das Zittern in der Stimme, die Aufregung, die Wut, Enttäuschung, Trauer – die ganze Bandbreite an Emotionen, die sie durchlebt hat und sicher auch beim Schreiben und Sprechen noch mal durchlebte. Normalerweise bin ich skeptisch, wenn Autoren ihre eigenen Bücher einsprechen, aber hier macht es die Geschichte noch viel stärker. Das sind echte Emotionen und das hat mich sehr berührt. Ich wünsche Shari Franke alles Gute für die Zukunft, sie hat es verdient!

this book is extremely vulnerable, but also real, delving deeper into the life of Shari, all the wile providing a well rounded story, with background knowledge and critical thinking. I would like to prove a SA trigger warning, when reading this book. I learned a lot of her, and her message of love conquering all is as profound as well. throughout this book she never released intimate details of her siblings, and still respected their privacy, which makes it a fitting read. I wish her all the best for her future journey, and can't help but root for her.

As someone who used to follow Shari’s family and then stopped following because I didn’t agree with her mothers ways - but always came back to watch that one video of Shari playing „Sleigh Bells“ on the piano on Christmas Day, surrounded by her siblings, because I found that just sooo beautiful - I cried myself through most of this audio book.

Shari’s own voice reading it makes it all the more gut wrenching.

I am so proud of Shari for telling her side of the story, for stepping up for her siblings and all the other kids who don’t get a say in their online exploitation.
Don’t support family vloggers. Just. Don’t. Kids shouldn’t be on the internet.

This was a tough read, but a necessary one. As someone who grew up in a loving home, it’s hard to fathom how a mother could treat her own children so abusively from infancy. I guess some actions truly defy understanding. However, what I do know is how harmful “sharenting” can be. It’s overwhelming to see how many accounts exist where parents share every detail of their children’s lives, even their most embarrassing moments, with thousands of strangers and potentially dangerous individuals.
Shari Franke endured a living hell, at times without fully realizing the extent of it. Yet, she found the strength to cut the puppet master’s strings and forged her own path. Having personal traumatic experiences with religion, it’s refreshing to hear a devoted person like Shari assert her conviction to follow her own heart. In her words: “just because a Church leader said something doesn’t mean they’re right; doesn’t mean it’s necessarily coming from God. […] I’d realize that what a human being says holds less value to me than my personal conversations with God” AMEN GIRL!

Despite everything this family had to go through, I’m incredibly proud that Shari has chosen to turn her pain into something positive, always prioritizing her siblings’ well-being. I wish nothing but a happy and private life for them. For Chad and Shari, I hope they continue nurturing their strong bond and a Free(d) life. And to Kevin, I wish a fresh start and the clarity he needs.
