Stephen King is a genius storyteller who forms so seemingly easy interesting characters! The story is quiet simple- after the superflu has killed most of the US population, for the survivors the struggle between good and evil begins. This simple storyline isn‘t that interesting, but the protagonists are described exceptionally great and affectionately that you can‘t stop reading. Loved the book! Great recommendation! Will keep the characters for a long time in mind...

Ich liebe Steven King, nicht alles, aber dieses Buch hier besonders.
Und so ist es wie immer eine Art Risiko sich darauf zu verlassen, dass jemand ein geliebtes Buch RICHTIG vorliest.
Jedes Mal aufs Neue.
Und ich kann sagen UMWERFEND

Leider werde nicht alle Bücher von Grover Gardner gelesen, aber ich werde mich nach Büchern umschauen, die er gelesen hat.
Denn was der Mann hier vollbracht hat, ist nicht zu toppen.
Die Figuren werden dreidimensional.
Gefühle, gesprochene Gefühle, kommen so rüber das es mich im Hals würgt, ich lauthals los lachen muss, oder es mich eben gruselt.
(und ich bin ein Mann, gebe ich hier mal zu bedenken.)
Einfach nur toll.
Das Buch berührt mich tief, Grover Gardner (tiefe Verbeugung, Danke Danke Danke) hat es noch ein bisschen eindringlicher gemacht.

Technisch habe ich keine Einwände vorzubringen Gut 1000 Seiten in gleichbleibender Qualität zu lesen ist fast unmöglich, es gibt keinerlei gravierende Fehler, die Klangqualität ist gut, ich bin aber auch kein HiFi-Enthuisiast
Das Rauschen und Zirpen meines USB-Kopfhörers störte mich da am meisten :)

I love Steven King, not every Story/every Book, but this one here the most.

Every time I buy an e-book, there is a certain risk, that the book has not been read "correctly", especially for the ones I truly love.

This time I can say : MAGNIFICENT, STUNNING

Unluckily Grover Gardner does not read every book, but I will look for every Book he has read.
Because, the work he did with this book is simply not to beat.
The characters become three dimensional.
Feelings, spoken/written feelings, he gets over so that I get a lump in my throat or I have to lough out loud, or I simply get the creeps.
(And I am a MAN, not to forget ;) )

This book touches me deeply.
Grover Gardner ( Deep Bow, Thank you , Thank you, Thank you) made even more touching.

Technically I can not tell of flaws. Reading about 1000 pages with a constant quality is nearly impossible (I do it myself you know, for a hobby, and I know, how hard it is to read constantly in the same tone and voice and always meeting the different tones of different popele in the same time), there are no serious mistakes techically as well as in the reading itself. Well, I'm not a HiFi-Enthusiast

The most irritating was the noise and chirp from my USB headset :)

The story is so good that I keep on listening to it over again. And the narration is great.

I debated over years to read this full version, but now with audible I was able to listen on my walks and while doing other things. It was a long road but as always with Stephen King, a good one. I will admit I wasn’t overall completely satisfied with the ending, but I also think that was the point. Somethings we can understand how it happened, why it got to that point, and it all comes back to the choices people make, and these choices are rarely the right ones for the right reasons.

Worth a listen if you’ve got the time
