Honestly I am feeling strange how I need to grin smile and laugh when I listen to books by Dakota Krout. Imagine sitting in front of a normal dude in a train and he suddenly starts to grin like a maniac.

I cannot do anything against it, it’s just fun to listen to and my facial muscles want to express this every now and then. :D

Absolutely can recommend. 99/5 stars.

A nice take on an apocalypse RPG novel where the main protagonist should not suffer badly from power creep (but I don't understand why he didn't level up to level 5).

von nervigen Charaktere bis zu unlogischen Ereignisfolgen ist alles dabei. Nur eines ist überraschenderweise ok, die Welt, sie ist gut geschrieben und ausgearbeitet. Nicht Mal das Skill und LVL System ist schlecht, nur nervig umgesetzt. Zu allem Überfluss schaft es Killer nicht Mal die fiesesten Typen zu töten obwohl er weiß das diese ihn jagen. Ich habe mir das die ganzen 3 Bücher angetan und gebe definitiv keine Kaufempfehlung, außer für meine schlimmsten Feinde.

The MC has me wanting to yell at him for most of this book. Three years of experience, a clear knowledge of what is to come and he even has the clear head to choose a decent way out.

Then he turns into a sniveling piece of regret. He finds numerous reasons not to level and wallow. He regrets his cooking class while bemoaning his dwindling food reserves.

Just as jarring as the switch was in the beginning when he went from best assassin and well prepared survivor to all that, he does another 180 in the end. Neither is explained and all it leaves is

me being confused and irritated by an incongruous MC.

It is incredibly difficult to get invested in a story when a master assassin turns into all that just to have him grow,... however small that growth may be. Harder still when it takes 90% of the book.

Usually Dakota is better at this
