Edit, no, seems more like a sadist. He's there just to torture people. The guy who died. His friends came by. Is he allowed to scratch a message in the floor? No. Is he allowed to team up with his old team? No. He is commanded to go and observe, look at his friends but don't meet them. Look at them suffer, but don't interfere. Look as I try to murder your friends, the friends you died to save. Yeah, Mc is 100% a sadist.
