Tesni Anderson's biggest problem used to be microwaved fish in the office break room. Then she choked on ramen noodles and woke up as a dungeon core.

The system expects her to create a murder maze filled with traps and monsters. Instead, Tesni has three months to build something unprecedented: a dungeon that doesn't kill people. With the help of her gruff Scottish advisor Threk (who thinks she's completely mad) and a growing family of goblins who just want to belong somewhere, she's determined to create the world's first dungeon inn.

Between essence management that works like a mobile game, aggressive rock-hens that can't judge distances, and the moral compromise of designing "safe" dangerous areas, Tesni discovers that building something nurturing in a world designed for conflict is harder than any office job she's ever had.

But when the first adventurers finally arrive, will her revolutionary hospitality model work—or will she lose everything she's built?

A cozy slice-of-life fantasy about found family, ethical business practices, and proving that sometimes the best way to win is to change the game entirely.

The idea was appealing - a dungeon core that did not want to be violent. A nice, relaxed listen as a contrast to the more exciting audio books I listen to otherwise.
BUT the writing is repetetive, the author put "show, don't tell" on its head and told instead of showing .. at some point I really FLINCHED whenever the word "obvious" was used.
And the repetitions - oh my god. YES, I know, the core can only speak directly to one being, that being needs to relay what was said. And for the first two or three sentences, havin both versions there is a good introduction, but after a few chapters hearing EVERYTING the core sais TWICE gets old REALLY fast.
I can't really speak as to how good the speaker is - she managed to create distinguishable voices for most characters, but seeing as she tortured me with endless repetitions and at some point I stopped caring about the story, I cannot really give an unbiased opinion.
Since it is free for subscribers (as of the time I'm writing this) see if you agree, but if you agree with me after the first few chapters, don't waste more time - it doesn't get any better but WORSE.

I REALLY wanted to like it
