Survival of the fittest is easier said than done....

If waking up in a new world isn't bad enough, Hestia starts her new life as a small, newborn dragon in a hostile forest filled with vicious monsters. With status screens obscuring her vision, her first task is to escape two hungry kobolds wanting some grilled lizard for breakfast.

Equipped with fragmented memories from her past life and the gamelike mechanics of her new reality, Hestia must face trials, beasts, bosses, and more as she grows in size and power.

She is determined to find civilization. For nothing will stop her from fulfilling her one true desire: to become an idol.

Don't miss the adventure of a lifetime in this new LitRPG series about an underdog rising up to be the idol her new world didn't know it needed. Hestia may start small, but one day, her power will match her determination.

The story is about a fifteen-year-old girl who is reincarnated as a dragon in another world. I generally like the premise—I enjoy LitRPG—but there are aspects that slightly detract from my listening experience. For one thing, status stats, abilities, and numbers are listed very frequently. As I said, I have nothing against progression or LitRPG elements, but the constant repetition disrupts the narrative flow for me. However, the bigger issue concerns the main character. The story repeatedly circles back to her past—specifically her dream of becoming an "idol" (a mix of singer, dancer, and entertainer). Although she couldn't realize this dream in her previous life, it remains her primary motivation for survival. At times, I find it odd that her desire to become an idol seems more important than her actual will to survive. Furthermore, she clings steadfastly to this goal even in her new world, where she knows almost nothing about the people around her. In my view, the protagonist also makes a few avoidable mistakes. Given her young age, this isn't unrealistic—so it’s not a flaw in the story itself—but her behavior can be a bit trying at times. Perhaps this explains why many similar reincarnation stories feature older protagonists who act with more maturity and deliberation. The narrator is decent, and overall, I find the story well worth listening to so far, even if the frequent status updates and the intense fixation on the idol dream can become a bit tedious over time.

It's neither good nor bad

First of all, good job from Erin Bateman for her Voice Acting.
This book is missing the golden art of storytelling by a mile - Problem, Climax and Resolution.
There is clearly a problem. Sadly, there isn't a Climax and there isn't a resolution. For a 20h book, there isn't much going on in the first 4-8h. Normally I pause my audiobooks when I need to do something AFK. Not this one. I could leave the Audiobook playing and when i came back after 5min i didn't missed anything beside MC inner monologue that became boring and parroting after the first two hours (was written in style but without substance). Also there is alot of repeating Stats that are realy hard to scip because they are in the middle of a chapter and could take up to 5min to read. Normaly not a problem but when this reapeats every chapter later in the book just because the MC gained one new skill this gets old very quick.

Would i buy book 2 when it realeses on audible? Probably yes, because the main story has many similarities with "Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?" from Okina Baba and i liked the reincarnated as a Spider story. Mybe i'll warm up to this story in book 2

Not my cup of tea...

The story is catching and interesting. I like the international touch of the MC when she curses in German, as I am German by myself with a foreign mother. The first words I learned in my mother's language were the ones used to scold me for stupid things as a kid. (The MC also uses japanise!)
The only downside is the too long Statusscreens (6 min+). It would be much nicer, if they were less often or at least easy too jump. The gains und finals stats for the skills would mostly be enough.

Good Book

An infantile plot with cliché characters, constant reliance on luck and gifts from above, crowned by a rather grating performance of voice acting. Ruaaaarwg.

Mediocre at best
