Born to a life of political conflict, Perturabo was always considered a child prodigy among the people of Olympia - indeed, his philosophical and scientific works were beyond compare. But then, after his rediscovery by the Emperor and decades of thankless military campaigning on the Great Crusade, the primarch begins to resent his Legion's place in the Imperium.

When word reaches him of turmoil on his adoptive home world, he orders the Iron Warriors to abandon their campaign against the alien hrud and crush this emerging rebellion by any means necessary....

Interesting background to Perturabo his mindset and legion. Told in two timelines with one describing his upbringing on Olympia and the other one the culmination of his flaws into his downfall. No real surprises if you are familiar with the setting but interesting nonetheless

The story was rather good and details the life of Perturabo before and after imperial contact. It gave some interesting revelations of the Primarch of the iron warriors. The performance of the book was really nice with the reader doing multiple voices and some good audio added to enhance the story.

Good

As primarcs go Perturabo is one of the stronger defined ones. There are some inconsistencies, like an advance civilisation discussing the reasoning for raining is somewhat hard for me to believe. But the character are the strongest part of the story

The most important book about what made the Primarch of the IV legion the man he is. The best parts for me were those chapters that take place on Olympia although Hrud are definetly uniquely horrifying. If you're an Iron Warrior fan this is definetly the best place to start.

The origin of Perturabo the Lord of Iron

All the primarch stories are profound especially the ones about the traitors. Perturabo always was one of my most favourite primarchs and this story is the best of the series I know so far.
