Ich war absolut begeistert von dem Buch sowie der Interpretation durch die Vorleser.

Die Story dreht sich um 7 junge Erwachsene, jeder Spezialist in seinem Fachgebiet, mit sehr unterschiedlichen sozialen Fähigkeiten und Background, welche zusammen ein Squad der Aurora Acedamy bilden, einer intergalaktischen Friedensbewegung. Dies geschieht teils freiwillig aus Loyalität ihrem Squadleader Tyler gegenüber und teils unfreiwillig, da niemand anders sie in ihrem Team haben möchte. Auch scheint die Mission mit der die AL sie betraut alles andere als wichtig oder aufregend. Doch erstens kommt es anders und zweitens als man denkt. Es beginnt eine spannende Reise mit vielen liebevoll und vor allem aus allen Perspektiven des Teams geschilderte Reise durch unsere Milchstraße. Und so entwickelt sich aus diesen Haufen von Mistfits auf sehr sarkastische Art und Weise eine Gruppe von Freunden, welche sich aufmachen die Galaxie zu retten.

Im Fazit absolut lesens- und hörenswert.

I love me a good ensemble! And the story managed to avoid role cliché (most of the time), despite having a very classical ensemble/crew structure. There is one very clichéd aspect in the love story, but when everything else is good and original, one more familiar plotline helps to settle rather than being annoying.

There was no dull moment, I never got frustrated from getting anything too expected, the characters are wonderful, the representation/diversity is good, the plot is strong.

Okay, gonna go now, need to start the next book in the series. NOW

I didn’t really know what to expect from this new sci-fi adventure by the brilliant Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff - just that I expected it to be as epic as The Illuminae Files. And it did not disappoint. An amazing start to a new series in which a group of misfits has to save the galaxy. The audiobook is absolutely brilliant.

Fast-paced, creative plot with good character work! I loved the different perspectives, which often 1st Person books lack, but since we've different POVs here it works beautifully. The world building is imaginative and I'm looking forward to the next book! I also loved that it was a little diverse!

War mir ein wenig zuviel Gefühls Innenleben. Die wechselnden Sprecher haben mich teilweise eher abgelenkt. Manchmal ist weniger mehr.
Der Handlungsfaden war gut aber ein wenig zu konstruiert. Ja es ist science fiction aber die Rettung in letzter Sekunde war immer dieselbe...
