Über diesen Titel
Sometimes, life’s greatest lessons are found in failure…
With the circumvention of Aurora’s grim fate—and a heavy heart at what’d been required to avoid it—Rowan and his budding Party take their first steps toward realizing their goals; Aurora, a brilliant young woman, is determined to uncover the truths behind her father’s disappearance. Nathaniel, the stalwart companion, is shackled by his name and longs to be free. Rowan, a wily old geezer, is compelled by his circumstances to turn their unlikely coalition into a force that can survive the fated calamity.
Rowan once more dons the mantle of mentor as his growing Party looks to him for guidance. Lessons learned through tribulation are everlasting. Within the shadow of danger lurks opportunity. And oftentimes, the biggest threat is the one you don’t see coming...
Don't miss Book 2 in the A SUMMONER AWAKENS Series, a Deck Building LitRPG utilizing a Card-based Magic System with loads of customization and steady power progression. Perfect for fans of All the Skills and Towers of Heaven, as well as games such as Slay the Spire, Hearthstone, and Gwent.

but... this book isnt that good. barely Progress, way tooo many sidestories and added characters.
they feel a bit empty.. i recommend to focus more on the quality than the quantity of the characters.
the next book should also have less repeating card descriptions and more flow in the Story.
the 2nd narrator is not necessary.
and last but not least... more hours.. it just feels wrong to have a book 1 with 16h and good building and a 2nd book with barely Progress and only 9h. and off those 9h are barely 5h mainstory focused.
Still looking forward to the next book in hope for more.
a bit short

In general I love the story and worldbuilding, narrators are great, even if the two female main characters are not distinctive enough in my opinion.
Really should have been longer

great

The story is still great but quite short and less dense as in the first book. The production is less though through and using a second female narrator for the female characters disrupts the immersion somewhat - while you have Jeff who's one of the best narrators out there! I hope the series goes on finally gets the attention it deserves. It IS a great story!
Underrated, underlistened

You can follow not only the growth of the MC but also his party.
A request to the author: just keep writing and don't let yourself be influenced by a few people who want to make such an outstanding story look bad.
still amazing!!!

And now I am disappointed,
The quirks of the people get stronger to set a szene and to drive the dynamics, but they don´t feel like real people, more like conzepts to help set a scene.
I LOVE Jeff Hays in Dungeon Crawler Carl, but here his power to give more identity to the protagonists, amplifies the quirks. Yes, I know, the MC is supposed to be an old man in a young body, but with the lines, the self-satisfied way to speak and act and Jeffs voice to amplify it all, Rowan feels like a smug, exzentric now-it-all, who pretends to be an old man and not like the nice and mysterious MC, the other partymembers make him out to be.
After the 20th time, he calls people of the same age "young lad" or taps the head of a girl, supposed to be a young grown up woman and not a todler and does not care, that he is irritating them, it just feels off.
And the others shrug it off, accept everything and follow him without any doubt up the tower.
The motivations of all the partymembers feel off. Not one feels relatable in there motivations and like a real person.
Then there is the contrast between Jeffs wide voice spektrum and the female narrator. Lucky Byfleet has a nice voice and I recognize a few different accents, but I am not able do tell Aurorra and Kasimira appart. You should be able to easy differentiate the different main-protagonists.
My next point is, that there is next to no progression.
The book is unter 10 hours and about 2 (TWO!) hours are status-sheets / card-descriptions!
Additional all the parts, where Rowan explains the cards and the way the tower-system works to the other people. Nice to know, but not instead of actually telling the story.
And after some time and a view little things happening, tho book is suddenly, unexpected over.
I really wanted to like it.
But it could not meet the expectations, the first book promised.
I wanted to like it
